My First DC 'Mentally Out'

My last D.C was 2006, so I did not attend one as totally mentally out person. 2007 I just could not face going, I had been inactive for months and was waking up bigtime.

I walked away from the K.H, never to attend another meeting again,in spring 2008.

I could not put up with even a few minutes of a D.C now, I have seen behind the curtain, it ain't no amiable old man pretending to be the Wizard of Oz, it is a bunch of lying, hypocritical parasitic bastards who I have no time for, yea I mean you G.B of JW's.

it is a grave error to suppose that a dictatorship rules a nation by means of strict, rigid laws which are obeyed and enforced with rigorous, military precision.

such a rule would be evil, but almost bearable: men could endure the harshest edicts, provided these edicts were known, specific and stable; it is not the known that breaks men's spirits, but the unpredictable.

Dear dgp, I have observed the WT for over sixty years, and they are definately re-active, not pro-active.

They only respond, and belatedly usually, when a target is obvious, and as I say, usually the target has actually moved before they shoot.

Yes, they have always used fear as a control, fear of "displeasing Jehovah" being the main one, this in reality means fear of not towing the party (GB) line.

I do agrre that the speed and frequency of doctrinal and policy changes engenders an attitude in the R&F that they need to "keep up", but this is a bonus to the GB, not something they actually plan for.

The GB, and the puppeteers who pull their strings, are a lot of bumbling fools who just about keep the WT ship afloat despite its wonderful business set-up and assets, they are quite inept, but shielded from their lack by circumstances.

7 million people contributing makes them damn nigh immune from becoming bankrupt, despite their lunatic moves regarding doctrine.

Dearest Talesin, "Bleeding heart liberals" refers to people who will not countenance any criticism of groups that they percieve as under-represented in society.

I am sure you would not defend the under-represented suicide bombers, or stoners of women etc etc ?

I too am a "Liberal" (I do hate labels, they constrict one so !) to a great degree, but I will not defend the indefensible actions of religionists who demand we allow them to carry on their evil ways , just because they are a religion.

The above applies particularly to Jehovah's Witnesses and their murderous blood doctrine.

Long may your heart bleed, as mine does, for those mistreated by religion and other evil powers today.

Why not leave?

i've noticed on my brief time on these forums that there seems to be quite a few that have serious doubts about the org or know of all the lies etc of it but still go to meetings or even still serve as a ms or elder.. i'm just curious as to why you still bother going?

no offense meant here...i'm not being all judgemental like typical jws but am curious.

i'm guessing a lot of it is down to not wanting to break up the family or losing relatives etc.

I cannot understand those who stay, I walked away, knowing that the chances were i would lose my darling wife, and all of my blood relatives, aprt from one cousin who has never been a J.W

Why did I risk all that ? because I have a conscience, I believe in Truth and in particular in being true to oneself, if you are not that, are you of any value as a human ?

It takes humility, you have to recognise you have been a fool who was duped, and it takes integrity, you either stand up for truth, or you don't care who shits on you.

That is the stark choice, and I too, Ifonly789, wonder why people delay.

There is no perfect time to leave, waiting for something to change is like waiting for the New System, it ain't gonna happen.

Just grow a pair of balls, and walk away from the damn religion, your life can only get better from the on.

Thanks once again LeavingWt, for posting Pat's priceless video.

He certainly tells it like it is, and I admire him. Bleeding heart Liberals will condemn him, I cannot even be bothered to say how, but they have no argument against what he says.

I love many people who follow Islam, they are , like many JW's, good sweet people, but the religion is , not Shiite, but shite.

No woman should be treated as less than a man in any way, all people should have access to proper justice, and Islamic/Sharia law knows nothing of proper justice.

To allow the creeping influence of this religion to change our society and its values is to sleep our way back in to the dark ages.

FADERS: How determined are you?

after being here on jwn for a while, one does see a spectrum of sorts.

there are people here in various stages of their exit from their lives as jws.

some are full fledged kh and fs attendees whom we call "the conscious class".

How could anyone go back after learning the truth about JW/WT teachings, history and conduct ?

They are wrong, plain wrong, on so many levels, about almost everything.

I miss seeing some of the sweet kids that were at our KH, some of whom are my blood relatives, but that is no reason to go and live a lie.

I have moved on, got educated, grown up, become happy and fulfilled, life is too short to give up those blessings. To return in any way would be to confirm to my relatives and old "friends" that they are in god's religion.

I really like my life now, and I like the discomfort, more Cognitive Dissonance, this brings to JW's.

i had a discussion with my jw friend during which i asked her why a rational person should believe the world is run by demons.

in response, she questioned the existence of objective rationality.

she said that we should "agree to disagree.

The J.W's are frustrating/impossible to debate with. Stephen Law in his book "Believing Bullshit" which I recommended on a thread, has as one of his eight methods used to teach, or justify, B.S "Moving the Semantic Goalposts".

He points out this is a method much beloved by theists as well as others. He says, and I agree, this is a totally intellectually dishonest method of argument, and one that invalidates your argument, even if what you are arguing is in fact true !

Perhaps you could get your friend to read the book, but I doubt she will love the title, also people are not good at applying criticism to themselves, worth a try though.

Try to be kind and honest in the way you limit, or end your friendship, in other words tower head and shoulders above the way JW's treat people.

I suggested to a bro. that came to "shepherd" me when I went inactive in 2007, that the best thing JW's could do was shoot the Householder dead, that way they would be assured of being in the Noo System.

Just giving his piss-poor "witness" was not likely to convert anybody, but they were supposedly going to be judged on their reaction to it.

I find that when I think about a lot of what are claimed to be "Amazing" coincidences, they are not so amazing, apart from the slight surprise that such things do not occur more often, but the circumstances surrounding them mean that such things should happen from time to time.

As to the knock on the door thing, how many people pray and do not get the knock, how many people pray and a LDS member or even SDA or Baptist member is at the door ?

JW's do not tell us.

The stupidest one I read in a WT was about a guy praying to god for help as his child had been killed by a huge T.V set falling on him. The man got the knock. The WT claimed angelic direction.

Would it not have been better for the powerful angel to have stopped the T.V falling ????

if any witness were able to just walk away from the organization with no repercussions, in five years what percentage of witnesses would have walked away?.

I think the long term loss of members would be terminal for the WT. I reckon 50% in a short time, and most of the rest not long after.

All that would be left are my sister and her husband.

It ain't gonna happen, too many $$$£££ at stake.
