i was thinking about loubelle's post where she asked if the world would be better without religion and started wondering what is meant when someone refers to a something as religion.
are they referring to a structured belief system.
or are the referring to anything other that the belief that this life is all there is and once it is over there is nothing else.

if,like me,you wish to fade only, because of family "in" etc.
if you were threatened with being da'd ,but you still believe in god,you could try this:.
say that if they announce that you are no longer a jehovah.s witness you will sue the three elders on the jc for slander as you still witness about almighty god,and you cherish your reputation.. reckon this would work????.
Obviously the law is different whever you are,but here in the UK we do not have quite the same legal protection for religions as in,say, the US of A
So it may work(perhaps just the threat of going legal) in some parts of the World.

since the jehovah witness baptism is more or less worded like a contract, when someone disassociates does that mean the baptism is considered voided?.
The way it was explained according to my memory was, that if you did not feel your baptism was valid you should be re-baptised,even if you had never been DF'd or DA'd.
We had one prominent Elder who was baptised in his teens,in the 1960's,and he was smoking at the time,so he got re-baptised in the1990's !
(I think the smoking was the reason, may have been something else)
So if you were ever mad enough to go back you could get baptised into an organization, not into the Father,Son and Holy Spirit as Christians do,you would have the choice.
But unfortunately, though there has been a de facto breaking of the contract, the Borg still holds you to it,even if you left decades ago.

im confused.
assuming genesis is a true account of creation the stronger adam loved eve the less meaning life without her would have.
therefore adam chose his death over life without her.
Presumably if Adam hadn't rushed into eating the fruit,God could have given him the option of Eve dying,Adam sacrificing his perfect life, then he and Eve are ressurected, both sin free.
Damn his listening to a woman!

a sister from my "congregation" has a bible study, and this study had compiled a boatload of questions about russell, the wt history, and incongruencies etc.
and the sister told her that she refuses to answer the questions and that they are apostate teachings.
she told the study that "it isn't up to me to prove the truth to you, you need to prove the truth to yourself".. as another poster put up the topic of "doesn't it blow your mind?
Right on the mark Loubelle !
I think I will use a similar attitude when my Dubbie relatives have a go to get me to go back "O.K I have doubts,so prove to me it is the troof"

i am thinking of this for my latest blog, but it's good to share it with you all.. .
i imagine that those who have never been jehovah's witnesses and just hear about them or perhaps "know" a couple must wonder, "why all the fuss?".
since we have moved into the internet age, everyone is an expert.
I did a similar analysis of the British "field" and came up with similar statistics. (being very conservative with my estimate 12,500 are "missing" over ten years.)
When you think that those ones leaving were active, baptised "tasters" of the "Spiitual paradise",who once believed it was the truth,if it were anything CLOSE to the "Truth" it would be inexplicable that such numbers were walking away!
And yet dumbdubs just shrug their shoulders and carry on,it never makes them think, WHY?

just a fun thread.. but you know how you go through that disney ride and forever you have that "it's a small world after all..." song permantly embeded in your head.. andy wt songs do that to you?.
i haven't been at the kh in a long time, but i have 191 - "make the truth your own" playing in my head.. geez.... .
But why oh why were 99.9% unsingable,I don't understand music, but can just about sing pop songs in a reasonable way,and proper hymns written by christians, but those goddamn Kingdumb Smelodieswho could handle them?
Hence the Congo.sounded PATHETIC,and even a big assembly didn't sound good. Praise Jehovah in song? Just another thing the GB cocked up.
