I'm glad this was brought up. I was a jw for less than a decade. In that time I have observed that when a jw gets df'd, some other jws talk about them in obsene terms. In other words, they would call the df'd person a "fool" or a "knuckle-head" or a "dog". I've even heard one elder call a df'd person a "jackass". Outside the hall they are free to act worldy I guess. I guess being a "Christian" is only for when they are actually inside the building. This is one major thing that pissed me off about them. I wonder if anyone else observed this in their area.

(for example, does it bring sinners to their senses?

After I was df'd in 97, I was living by a time clock. In other words, I was hoping I could get reinstated before I either died or before Armageddon came. Having the help of this board, I realized my doubts were justified. The good people on this board have confirmed alot of the things I already suspected. If it were'nt for this forum, I'd still be living in the small box of fear. It is true, the truth really does set you free. I've realized the GB is a sham. Their fruitage is rotten.There is no way the jw religion can have God's approval since God is love. The jw religion operates on fear, not love.

The Friends Ain't So Friendly

a lot of posts i read here say things about how the jws are all victims; how people feel so sorry for them; how people believe that the jws they know are really good people who are trapped in a lie.
then i read a lot of other posts about the cruel things the jws do, like shunning, ignoring df'd people on the side of the road with a flat tire, refusing to be charitable to their fellow humans, delighting at the impending deaths of millions of people, and blaming all of their coldness and heartlessness on the fact that they're just following orders from the gb.

I remember whenever I'd notice Df'd people, whether in the Hall or on the street, I'd feel sorry for them only because there was a whole group of people that all of a sudden disinheirited them. I never felt sorry for them because I thought God disapproved of them. I always wanted to speak with them and say "Hey there, how are you doing ?" but I was somehow afraid that it would get back to the elders and I'd get DF'd myself over it. Turns out I should have talked with them because I ended up getting Df'd anyways. My point is this, personally, I never felt I was somehow superior or better than DF'd people.
After I was DF'd, my wife and I got back together for a short while. Her 20 year old daughter, who was also a jw moved in with us because she was too lazy to work a full time job. Her and I would talk and joke around at the house and act like we were the best of friends. One day I started out to work and started to cross the street. She was crossing also walking past me. She did'nt say "hi" or even a "good morning" to me but she just half smiled. I remember thinking I just wanted to slap that hypocrate right across her face that day.
I still cannot figure out how someone can just turn it off like a light switch just because 3 UNqualified men decide someone should not be talked to. It's inhuman. I cannot find any trace of humanity in the jw cult.

Nazi Attandants at the DC, any stories?
by yourmomma ini remember at the last dc in the bathroom their was an attendant and his job was to pass out one paper towl for each person after they washed their hands.
i asked him for another because i wanted to blow my nose and he said "you have enough".
again, another wake up moment for me.

Ahhh !! The Vet !!
I was baptised at the Vet in 92. My next to last convention there I was sitting with my then wife, now my EX wife (thank God). I want to know if there is anyone on this board who was there and remembers a big-boned black sister turning around and loosing her footing, I guess she mis-judged where the step was, and tumbled down the steps. I was the white guy laughing my a$$ off as I saw several brothers at the bottom of the steps with their arms out like they were gonna catch a football. It was funny in the moment, but it's also kinda sad. To be fair I was stoned that morning.
I do remember the attendants holding the "Please Be Seated" signs. But I still went walking around checking out the hot women. In fact I confess that thats the ONLY reason I liked the conventions. The women would dress so skimpy and sexy. If I was walking up the steps, I'd have my shades on and looking at the women who sat on the seats spread eagle. I wonder if they did that on purpose.
I'd never go to the conventions now. They would creep me out too much.

One MS gave me a ride home one night from the meeting and had the radio on in the car. When "November Rain" by GnR came on he said we should not listen to it because it incited people to suicide. I always loved that song and I never felt suicidal when I heard it.
The chaperoning thing, even among grown people.
And one big thing in both congos was what one guy said about driving all over the place to drop people off so as to avoid having one bro and one sis in the car alone. What a waste of gas.

TopHat - I think it is very well known and/or suspected that the 9/11 attacks are the work of the Bush administration.
The planes involved were remote controlled US military planes. They dug up pictures of dead or imprisoned middle-eastern looking men and blamed them for organizing and carrying out the attacks. How convenient since they all supposedly died committing the attacks.
They also hired actors to go on national TV to pose as relatives of the dead on the crashed planes.
There were explosions under the towers moments BEFORE the planes even hit the towers up higher. A BUSH cousin had the contract to provide security to the WTC buildings. The WTC buildings were completely shut down the weekend before the attacks. Probably to plant thermite since jet fuel alone does not get hot enough to melt steel and cause a collapse. If you look at the buildings fall, you can see how obvious it is that that was a CONTROLLED DEMOLITION. The really sad part is that those buildings fell and killed alot of innocent people.
The Bush administration are guilty as all hell.
