Hi Caballo,
Have a search around on this Forum. I am sure there was a thread on this a few weeks ago, with some good links.
Maybe somebody else can help

wondering if anyone else is taking advantage of the subject matter being covered these past few weeks at the bookstudy (revelation climax book) regarding religion's association with the blasphemous scarlet colored wild beast (un organization)?
this week especially does the book get into religion's "heinous" involvement with the un with the wt society's writers even sarcasticly poking fun at other religions who have supported the un.
i, for one, have been taking full advantage of this grand opportunity to "witness" to as many j-dubs as possible about the wt society's secret 10 year involvement with the un and subsequent coverup.

jws, and christians in genreral, are taught that god answers prayers of sincere believers.
on the other hand, there is a popular bumpersticker which reads "nothing fails like prayer".. what has been your experience in this regard?
did god answer your most heartfelt prayers, or were they ignored?.
It worked for me. I was praying for a few months for clarity if JW's were the true religion & if there is a true religion. I started reading the Bible and also was amazed how I could interpret it with my own Brain.
I prayed "How would we ever know the true religion unless it came knocking on our door and that may never happen in a life time". A week later the postman knocked on my door with 'Crisis of Conscience' by Ray Franz. His book gave me all the answers I needed. I'd say God answered my Prayers, but you have to make the first step and he guides you in the right direction.
i need to vent.
i am sick and tired of people claiming that paul did not believe in the jesus christ of the bible.
there are many articles on the web (someone sent me one today) that claims that paul's writings deny that a historical jesus existed.
Hi Lil
Yes, we have the example of Paul going to put them right on the issue of circumcision,- trying to hold on to the Messianic Law. I understand 2 Corr 11:4 (looking at the context of chapter 11) to be speaking about watching out for False Prophets and being weak and being stumbled.
Gal 1:6 Paul is again speaking of false prophets, but if we look back at the context from verse 1 Paul is showing a distinction between Jesus who gave himself for our sins with undeserved kindness and verse 6 Paul can't believe that some, obviously in the cong at Galatia are 'being so quickly removed from the one who called you with Christ's undeserved kindness (God) over to another sort of good news (or gods)'.
This wasn't a warning, this was actually happening they were turning away or being 'led' away (in view of the word "removed" being used). In verse 7 Paul says "it is not another" it is only certain ones wanting to cause trouble. Paul obviously knew what was going on at that time.
Looking back at the context of verse1 Paul is quite clearly not denying Jesus Christ as he is explaining to them that he is an apostle through Jesus and God, just as all the others and those in Galatia. This is how he begins his reasoning with them in verse 1 by stating 'who he is and through whom he is'.(sorry this is in red, clicked my curser on the colour by mistake & can't get back to black)
Regards to you all
Cathie (oh black is back!)
considering any religious presumption to be that we have fallen from perfection, is it realistic to expect an imperfect memeber of our speceis to fare any better than a perfect one who failed initially?.
considering the often added feature of multiple deceptions and the rampant claim of an evil superpower who tricks what we see as truth in an angel of light format, can it seriously be expected that we have the mental wherewithall to accurately decipher truth from lies and also cope with all our biological urges often branded evil?.
or is the truth that our biology is perfectly natural and our preoccupation with 'holy' in fact even dirties natural and beautiful gifts?
I also have been puzzelled by the same question for many months now and have fairly recently reached the following conclusion (although this is only my personal view). Jesus said "I am the truth" so I think a religion is ok as long as it is "Christian" (as I said this is my personal opinion and that would depend if you do believe in the Bible).Humans only really attach themselves to a religion to give them a place/building within which to worship their beliefs/God. People usually attach themselves to a religion where the beliefs are closest to their own. There is so much confusion out there with religions, how could we ever know which is the true religion? Well we probably never will. There maybe even isn't! if you think that all religions are steeped in historical traditions/rules and guidelines set out in earlier centuries as a form of "policing"/fear of being bad, as with the belief of "hellfire", before our modern day "Law & Order".
Best thing to do is believe that there isn't a true religion and just be a good neighbour.
Yes beliefs are true to those that believe a certain belief, so maybe that is what religion is/means, if you look at the bigger picture, "Beliefs". So you could find your own belief and believe in it.
I hope I haven't "babbled on". I would welcome any comments
this post has gotten quite long so i decided to break it up into at least two sections.
i hope it doesnt come across as rambling.
i should start with a confession: it was my smurf that walked out of the kingdom hall in the early 80's.
Hi Galileo,
Thanks for sharing Part 1 of your life. Looking forward to Part 2. We all have similar experiences,. and sad they have spanned over several decades of our lives. I am 2nd generation and Baptized a JW 25 years ago at age 18. I am now 40 this year and my confidence has increased with age and now I am not going to sit back and just accept their interpretation of the Bible. I thought at one time I must be reading a different version of the Bible asI wasn't seeing the same.

you buy a plush rabbit for your collection and you see that the name of it is " flip flop" and you think of the wt society rather than a summer sandal.. .
