Most overrated?
Generally anything that wins an academy award
just on the Most underrated?...and I dont know if this film really was...maybe it was a bit of a sleeper or something...i dont know? But anyway, I think 'American history X' was about the best movie made in ages. I think it deserved every award under the sun...
Fight club was a bit misunderstood too
did anyone watch????
i thought is was ok for the first one.
i love survivor though.

survivor4?????...survivor3 just fininshed....dont tell me they just started another one? In Aus they already have their own version of the show going...it's pretty dull by comparison.
Reality shows are getting a tad monotonous for me
hey what 'bout temptation Island. Fun to watch...but jeeezz, the people who go on that show need their head read big time...I mean who'd do it?
if i were benevolent dictator of the u.s., i would:.
give tax incentives to those who want to run their own small business.
make abortion illegal except for rape or incest.
Proper Sex education (morals)in schools: manditory
HAHAHA...yeah right

Order drug abusers to intensive rehab- then if they "choose" to reoffend: OFF with their heads!
good way to fight the population explosion TR. You'd be executing almost half the population here...including myself. Bong on!!
i am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.
Amazing
Fascinating to read all the varius views this subject brought out. I wonder how many feel now since 9-11 attacks. In particular, prior to 9-11, Geraldo Rivera a big anti-gun and anti-death penalty advocate. Yet after he arrived in Afghanistan, he reported carrying a gun, and his comments about Bin laden were that he should be killed rather than captured. It seems that hard reality changed Geraldo's opinion rather rapidly.Well it'd be pretty hard to capture him. I think the guys dead already, and that OBL sightings are going to end up like Elvis sightings. But I think it would have been better to capture him. It's the same with the Nazis after WWII...they really wanted to capture those guys and put them on trial to show the world their evil. They felt it very important that they be tried. I think it'd be good if OBL got the same: a fair trial for the world to see.
As for him being put to death. I dont really care. It's not going to bring back all those people, though he probably deserves the worst death imaginable.
I'm against the death penalty on principal. Once you start making exceptions for one guy it leaves the door open for more exceptions. I dont believe OBL should be put to death...and I dont believe McVeigh should have been either. 3 reasons why I dont think McVeigh should have and that I can't remember seeing here in this thread are: 1)For the benefit of his father, 2) their is a question as to whether he was part of a greater conspiracy, I believe? 3) I just think it might have been better, rather kill the dude and have him think himself as some kinda martyr, for him to spend the rest of his life in jail with the possibility that he eventually might regret what he did and show some remorse for it...maybe? For some victims that might be more of a consolation than his death was? None of these 3 reasons can I see being applied to OBL however...but I still wouldn't put him to death. Though if I was in the combat field I might be tempted to pop him one, rather than take him back alive to HQ...
we know very well that human judicial systems are flawed.. we know even better that our lives may pass away before these flawed judicial systems are replaced by one perfect judicial system established by god under christ.. living under the auspices of a flawed judicial system is difficult because it is like a "teeter totter" or like a scale that rarely is perfectly balanced.
it goes one direction or another.
the marble statue of a blindfolded lady holding a balanced scale of justice in her hand is the intended result of justice, not the result in real life.. in the case of protecting the rights of those who are victimized by child abusers, while also protecting the rights of those falsely accused of child molestation, no perfect balance is humanly possible on this side of armageddon.. therefore, proplog2, what shall it be?.
Derrick
Those who believe I'm one of those people who pray for criminals on death row or believe in early releases for "repentant" child rapists should know a few things about me in this regard. First off, those who commit terrible crimes should be executed and their cremated ashes flushed down the prison toiletDont believe in the death penalty myself. heres why: http://web.amnesty.org/rmp/dplibrary.nsf/index?openview
I believe some molesters can be rehabilitated too BTW...
I have absolutely no mercy for them and I frankly I don't pray for their souls. Some I do have a certain amount of mercy for...some where abused themselves, are mentally handicapped, or have other serious problems. Others are just sick predators. The ones that run child porn sites are a prime example of that kind of evil. I have no sympathy for that kind of molester.
I believe that "innocent until proven guilty" should remain at all costs, AT ALL COSTS, because of the human atrocities in countries that believe we are guilty until provent innocent.Thank god for that derrick!

Do we slaughter a person accused of child molestation whom God knows is innocent by sending them to prison -- only to discover years from now they were innocent -- because at the present time we are not absolutely sure they are innocent?Or,
Do we slaughter a little lamb to protect the adult who might be innocent?
100 guilty men must go free just so 1 innocent man isn't condemned. Thats the lines I believe the judicial system should follow...thats how rigorous with the evidence we must be.
the following two accounts of the morning visit by the women to anoint jesus body are contradictory.
according to mark, the women wondered how they would remove the stone covering the tomb, but they found that it had already been rolled away.
matthew, however, says that when the women went to the tomb, there was an earthquake, and an angel came down from heaven, went to the tomb, and rolled the stone back.

I agree with TR that this is an inappropriate venue for political discussion in general
NAH
What better place to discuss politics than on a dub board.
