  Be nice to Larc, Prisca, & Refiners Fire

  in recent weeks i have been stunned at how larc, prisca, and refiner's fire have been treated and maligned so badly ... it is just unbelievable.

  these are good people who have good views, opinions and express themselves well ... they are supportive when folks are down ... and it seems they certainly deserve much respect.

  thought that they need to know how much they are appreciated.

  Dont be surprised to see this thread turn into another flame war though. I remember seeing one person (tina) start a thread crying out for help. She recieved, what i'd consider, a few cold sniper comments from some-one and then few other people get on the band-wagon and start throwing their weigh around and next minute it's WWIII. How the hell does that happen????...are people mad?

  at west end, brisbane, queensland, australia, a mad muslim man has been arguing with a christian pastor in the streets over the pastors preaching.

  yesterday was too much for him....the muslim went up to him after much pleading from friends not to do so, and set fire to the pastor.

  his reason?

  Yes, but if you ask a person what religion they are here, they'll say I was raised a catholic or I'm born again, but I don't practice. Face it, we are a religious society....it's just that religion these days doesn't fulfill our needs.

  Yeah, I know what people will say...or what they'll put on, say, the census form. My whole family put Uniting church in the last census...but so what!...none of them are Christian. I know heaps of people who say they are catholic...but they aint Christian, never read the bible, dont pray, dont believe, it's as simple as that. It really doesn't mean much these days to say your a catholic or whatever...

  We do have remnants of the christian faith in our society, but I wouldn't say that makes us a christian society...or a religious society. I think it'd be a big mistake to say that these days.

  The way i'm seeing it is the shit seems to be flying both ways...be it out and out abuse or just sniper comment. Lots of bitterness

  I don't think that's accurate. Ever been to a Catholic Church on a mid-day Sunday Mass? Or how about a Lutheran? Or how about Calvary Chapel.

  well...maybe there are a few packed churchs around. My point is that Australia is hardly a christian society. The vast majority of people here would rather go shopping on sunday than go to church. And a lot of those that do go to church do it out of habit...and couldn't careless about the fundamental tenets of the christian faith. We are hardly a christian society here anymore...

  Excuse me....Australia is a western country, therefore predominantly Christian...majority rules sweetheart.

  
  thats why most churchs are empty these days huh....and hardly anyone has read the bible. Yeah, real christian...

  we just have a christian past. But it's good we have thrown that off to a large degree, else we'd still be living in the dark ages.

  no it aint. Majority of people couldn't give a flip about christianity.

  and we tolerate any other religion and culture just as long as it doesn't violate the most sacred of commandments - the 10.

  I don't get how these people can worship a God who is so cruel and intolerable and who rewards murderers. It makes me weep.
