jgnat, the bible says abstain from blood. Blood kills so many each year, how can we even begin to say it is a good alternative? Give me a statistic on how many survive from catostrophic blood loss by taking a transfusion. I'm sure the percentage is not good.

Would you support a witness who was refusing a transfusion?
by Caedes ini was thinking about what i would do if a family member was in the situation of refusing a blood transfusion.
if the doctors were trying to force them to accept a transfusion, would i support my family members right to choose or would i take the position that they are brainwashed and are incapable of making a rational choice on the matter?
does the fact that they are hopelessly ill informed take away from their right to make a choice that they know will kill them?

Bible history proves this, if you believe in it. Jehovah would allow wickedness to continue during the time of Ancient Israel and then at a time of his choosing, he took care of the situations. In 607 BCE the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem because of their wickedness and hardened hearts towards his requirements. But it was prophesized decades in advance that it would happen. He allowed time to pass. So, it is the same with all other things in the congregation. Sometimes there is a quick resolution, other times in takes a period of time. But in the end, the congregation stays clean. It depends what you consider FACT though.

Well, I don't know the whole story Quandry, but there are examples in the bible during the Apostle Paul's day of congregations that lose Jehovah's holy spirit because things are not clean in the congregation. Some congregations are dissolved. The point is, in a normally operated congregation these things do not happen and you see the happiness and family like atmosphere because of it. I'm not sure what your daughter did, but there must have been some kind of proof she was doing something. Elders don't just walk up to a person and accuse them of things. That's silly. And if it were such a widespread problem then the religion would not continue to grow as it is.

Dude, you are 16. I think you should concentrate on your schooling and what you're going to do after that rather than worrying about a 15 year old girl. You're both too young for a serious commitment. And none of us should ever try to change another person. The minute you try to change her, the girl you know will change.

Junction-Guy, cults do not number 7 million and have 90,000 congregations worldwide. Jehovah's Witnesses are in over 230 lands. Our numbers continue to grow each year while other religions numbers decrease.
Some need to do their research in here. I also know an 80 year old man who had open heart surgery with no blood. They have the technology to do it, you just have to go to the right hospitals. Not all hospitals are equipped to give bloodless medical care.

I got bored, that's why I'm here Snakesinthetower. I personally know of a situation where two people fooled around with each other and it didn't come out for 2 years. After that it was dealt with. The point is, things do not need to happen in our own timetables. Jehovah chooses the proper time to reveal things. I've also spoken to apostates like yourself in the past. One used to live next door to my brother. You bash other people's hopes and replace it with nothing but despair.
Treating the woman as the "weaker vessel" in the bible refers to the fact that they are emotionally weaker than men. So as such, husbands need to give them some TLC. There's nothing in the bible that supports abusing women. I have never seen women abused in the congregation. Maybe in this instance, the man felt overwhelmed and his imperfections pushed him over the edge with her, because she was too hard to deal with. I don't know. But what I'm saying is, if he is in the wrong, Jehovah will deal with it in due time. That does not excuse the wife's sin of committing adultery, but hopefully she bounces back from that and gets her life in order so that she can be a strong mother for her child.
And while we're on the subject of brainwashing... should we not look to the other religions as such? How many people in other so-called Christian religions can even find scriptures in the bible? So if they can't do that and are just taking the word of their priest or minister as fact, then that is the definition of brainwashing. JWs are encouraged to research things that are not immediately understood.

Because of people like Jehovah's Witnesses who refuse blood, medicine has adapted to use bloodless techniques. Hospitals like in Englewood, NJ for example have the technology to perform major surgeries without blood. My father has had hip and knee replacements without the use of blood. Recovery time is faster and you don't have to worry about getting a disease or mishandling of blood by technicians. Thousands die every year just from getting the wrong blood type. The risk isn't worth it. In time, using blood will be obsolete.

Your friend needs to see a psychiatrist Lisa. But if she did have sex with her husband after telling him what she did, then that is a sign of forgiveness and that she wants to continue things with him. Her son is not going to lose his soul.... He has nothing to do with what his mother does.... Again, if her husband did everything you are saying, he should have been disciplined. JW's believe that Jesus is the head of the congregation and with God's holy spirit, keeps it clean. If the man is doing bad, he will be disciplined.
