Are active JW's seeing the light?
by boyzone ini ask this because i had a strange experience this week.
for a brief bit of background knowledge i'm being shunned like most on here, but i see witnesses every day in my place of work and at the school gate, there's no avoiding them, and like many of you, i've found it really hard to get over the hurt and heartache this has caused.. yesterday my mum (an active witness) went into hospital to have a tumor removed (successfully) as i'm the only daughter nearby to help, the other witnesses were asking the elders what they were supposed to do if they wanted to visit my mum and i was at her bedside, should they talk to me or turn round and go out again.. one elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course i should be spoken to.
he was very annoyed even at the suggestion.

The theme of Friday will be " The spirit will guide you into all the truth"
After picking myself up off of the floor, i just scanned the rest.
Most of the assembly after this deals with the theme of letting the spirit guide you.In other words keep on rollin' with the flow
After the 1914 change, (among others) how could anyone just attend an assembly, and actually LISTEN
to anything assembled by the Brooklyn boys regarding being guided by the spirit ????
In other terms WTH are people thinking ! -

I noticed that when I reached a certain middle- age, my spirituality really started to make itself known.
I was a jw for over 30 years, and suddenly it started to make no sense to me.
Basically it was many, many wtf is THIS! moments.
So instead of going forward like the wtbts states, I started going backward.
Thinking about my spiritual life from years ago,,,,, before I was a jw.
I recently went to an all night May vigil at the local church, and guess what, I got more encouraged from sitting there thinking about the past, and what I used to believe than any meeting could have done for me !!
I actually was THINKING about God, by myself, with no one pointing out to me what the wt believes, or states what we should believe, etc. and to stay in line with this thread, a certain amount of fear sometimes flirted thru my thoughts, but i thought what in the world is my problem ?
It is very obvious to me that God does not dwell in only one religion, if the elder body were to discover what I was doing, too bad,
I finally started to grow a backbone.
A spiritual life is mine, only mine, and I'm really weary of uneducated fools who think that they are gods personal receivers and mouthpieces regarding his thoughts and what people should/should not do in every aspect of their lives.
So no, I do not feel like a traitor, I really feel for the first time in my life that I am understanding what spirituality really is, and this site assists me in understanding how far off track some people have been pulled, or allowed themselves to disengage from their own personal feelings toward God.
As a final thought I recently heard this statement from st. Frances, think about it sometime by yourself with no one around :
• Preach the Gospel always, and if necessary, use words. -

Family first.
If you cast them off, you will regret it for the rest of your life.
You don't know me but honestly,, trust me on this one.
I have several family members, and close friends who are DF'd. I MAKE time to see them and really don't care
what the elders think.
I have noticed that if you are confident, and secure with your decision and let them know how you feel,
they tend to back off in this type of situation. -

Emotional Reactions to the Loss of the Book Study
by DT ini think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.
it will mark the end of an era.
it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

we once had a bs in our house for about three years.
it was tolerable, but getting home from work, cleaning house, putting the good china away, wow the stress we put up with to have a bs
in our home. And the service overseer who would call and tell us afterwards depending on the season that the heat was too low, or the air was not cold enough drove us to finally call it quits, enough is enough.
The funniest thing was a teenage sister who went to use the bathroom, and during a silent part of the study waiting for answers
this girl breaks out in song, and she sounded really loud with the echo from the bathroom right next to the study area.
She MUST have forgotten where she was, man was that a funny night.
Afterwards some of the younger hot shot, wise guys thought that maybe she was constipated and it finally broke free.
what memories !!! -

I have been studying Psychology this past semester at college, and I had a different type of question for this site.
When abuse of any type occurs ( whether it be toward children, or adults) usually animal abuse can be found linked
somewhere in the abusers past.
It seems that abusing an animal is acknowledged as an outlet for allowing troubled personalities to vent,
it allows the person to feel more "in charge."
After abusing the animal this type of personality can just snowball into more perverse, and damaging aspects.
Here is one of the many links I have been reading for this class:
http://www.helpinganimals.com/ga_humanAbuse.asp
Now here is my question, ( this is not whining, or picking an argument) does anyone here have any stories about witnesses treating animals in a bad way?
It seems with all the repressed personalities in this religion esp. with teenage JW's, or abusive elders,
this type of problem would be prevalent, yet people might not recognize it as being strange.
It was a real eye-opener for me to read about this
I’m not trying to cause trouble for anyone, just curious about this aspect. -

How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today
by slimboyfat ini made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.
i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.
well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

The hall I went to has a huge amount of younger persons, and it seemed to basically just go in one ear and out the other.
There was one comment that really made my mind flame out regarding perceptions:
One person who must have been in the JW organization for a longer time, made a comment regarding a scripture
(i don't remember which one) of how Jesus would be ashamed of his followers if they did not follow his teachings, and how we should accept
this new light and follow it.
Afterwards, I was speaking to an older lady, and she kept stating how wonderful it is that this new light has been made available to us
at the "proper time." I felt like Neo in the matrix at that moment, " take the redpill, or the blue one."
Personally, I believe that the society was beginning to feel the pressure of the 1914 generation teaching slowly, and steadily becoming
obsolete.
Being very selective with this article, they were able to avoid upsetting the younger people, and the older ones
would probably feel that they were wrong if any questions popped up in their minds.
