It looks like I will become an elder this week!
by outofthebox inthat's right guys.
as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.
which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.

And your willing to accept a position of 'authority" in this religion as a joke?
I can't decide which is worse, your judgment or the JW's who are going to appoint you -

A strange situation ?
by lancelink inmy wife has started to study/associate with another religion while being a full blown jw.
they come over 1-2 times a week, study, discuss matters and she goes to their church for special occasions.
i got a little disturbed that this was going on for so long, and suggested that she discuss this with the elders at the kh.

Mormons / yes
I wonder if all of the story was told. or if some was held back.
i gave you the whole story, it seems that her cong. is very "uninspiring" and the spiritual
uplifting that she claims to need is really evident within the other religion. -

Well, they just came to the conclusion that as long as she is producing "good spiritual fruitage" this side study-association must be a good thing, and god is allowing it.
I just heard the results of this meeting yesterday, does this sound like a typical answer from the people who are entrusted with the
"true religion"? (I'm referring to the jw's here) -

Thanks to Dan the man for this post,
You might find it interesting :
The current recruiting book that is in use What Does the Bible Really Teach? has just one brief paragraph in the main part of the text that mentions any chronology related to 1914, with a note in parentheses referring the reader to a section in the Appendix for a further explanation (my guess is that there's no formal consideration of the Appendix material with persons who are studying).
Here's the paragraph from the main part of the text:
23 For how long? During the 19th century, sincere Bible students calculated that the waiting period would end in 1914. (Regarding this date, see the Appendix, pages 215-18.) World events that began in 1914 confirm that the calculation of these sincere Bible students was correct. The fulfillment of Bible prophecy shows that in 1914, Christ became King and God’s heavenly Kingdom began to rule. Hence, we are living in the “short period of time” that Satan has left. (Revelation 12:12; Psalm 110:2) We can also say with certainty that soon God’s Kingdom will act to cause God’s will to be done on earth. Do you find this to be wonderful news? Do you believe that it is true? The next chapter will help you to see that the Bible really does teach these things. -

I attended the Saturday afternoon session of the circuit assembly several weeks ago.
And right at the end the speaker ( I think he was the co, or do) made the comment that we should focus our lives on the new system,
yet several minutes later he said that it might not come during our lifetime, but yet we must remain focused on this event happening.
That comment really amazed me.
A prime example of speaking out of both sides of your mouth. -

Can you explain this?
by smilelover ini am not a jw but i am really curious to know why are there so many people who criticize and ridicule them?
please give me some logical answers not personal judgements :p

From a CNN article :
Hindus claimed the highest retention of childhood members, at 84 percent. The group with the worst retention is one of the fastest growing -- Jehovah's Witnesses.
Only 37 percent of those raised in the sect known for door-to-door proselytizing said they remain members.
As you will see, there are many reasons why this is a known fact, I believe that the blatant hypocrisy that is displayed
by members of this religion is one of the major reasons, along with prophecies that have been proven to be untrue.
Do some research on the internet for yourself, and you should have no problem understanding the comments posted on this link. -

Wow.. I have changed
by digderidoo inas many of you are aware i have accepted i am an alcoholic for a couple of years, whilst cutting down loads over this period of time i recently have decided to attend aa, which has been a real help.. i have just looked through some old topics i posted, dating back to 2001, (which was a real dark period in my life).
what i have realised is how i have changed, call it growing up, whatever you like.
i find it interesting to see my opinions on matters and what i was going through at the time.. i would recommend anyone to have a browse through their old posts and see if it is the same for yourselves.. paul.
