  on another thread i stated that i didnt get braces for my teeth as a child as my parents believed that the ns would be here soon.

  i am very glad that i did it as an adult.

  The cd set of band of brothers from son # 2

  , a scale model of the 1960 batmobile from son #1

  an ipod from my wife.

  And an entire day of spending time with my family, the best gift of all!!!

  this is a post for all those jw lurkers out there who were once like me but probably think they are all alone and that noone else is going through what they are.... xmas day as a lonely jw is a real bitch!

  what happens is: you spend the whole day alone, knowing that all those jw familys in your area are all together today having a great time!

  if you have a family thats not jw then they are also all together having a great time... but you can't join in.... so you sit there watching tv, all the xmas films coming on... showing familys together on xmas day.... but wait a second!

  When I was a JW I was working construction with a brother who owned his own business.

  On Christmas we went to work as usual, and since I celebrated the holidays before becoming a witness, it was a very

  weird day.

  Framing a house one year in a wealthy neighborhood, temp in low teens with below 0 winchills, looking at all the people having

  family get togethers in a warm house.

  And here I was with several zealot jw's working construction

  That was one of the major incidents where I began questioning the normalcy, and sanity of people in the religion.

  Free Home Bible Study?

  my wife who was a JW for 27 years, became a mormon two years ago.

  BE CAREFUL, if you give them an inch they will end up taking a mile !

  Facebook condemned

  my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.

  this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

  insignificance and arrogance

  this evening the wife and i went for a walk on the beach, something that never fails to make me feel small and insignificant.

  i stand on the edge of this huge island called australia looking out to the curve of the horizon.

  this is a small planet, floating in its own blue atmosphere, floating in our tiny galaxie, in its own little solar system, in its slightly larger section of the unmeasurable universe.. we are as tiny, even tinier than a fine grain of sand in the universe, we are, essentialy, nothing.

  Since the late 1980's I have been looking for a video like this except instead of going all the way out into space only,,,,

  the camera went back to earth and went into the hand of a man sitting on a beach.

  Then the video went down to the molecular level
