How brave of you - you deserve a medal. Wish we could all have joined you on a mass anti-witness witness.

did you like being called "brother" or "sister"?
by highdose ini always found it very patronising, particulay as most of the jw's who did that treated me very badly and not like a sister at all!.
i also hated when brothers would say " i've met a lovely sister and i'm planning to marry her!
" sounds so incestuous!

I never liked it either, in fact I was corrected several times for not saying 'sister' or 'brother'. I also hated it when my kids called (an almost stranger) Aunty........they were not their Aunty or Uncle. This is reserved for families surely.

Who do you pray when you feel the need to pray if you dont believe in God?
by cyberjesus insometimes when we face difficult situations i feel the need to pray to god for help, and i know that plenty of times the sole act of praying makes you feel hope and have a better outcome of the situation.
you can call it suggestive or that you prepare a positive scenario by using faith.
the outcome is that regardless if there is someone who listens or not to your prayers oftentimes you feel better afterwards and have more positive attitude.. the problem is that i dont believe in god anymore.

I think it's like when you have counselling. It's not that they give you advice or tell you what to do - it's that they LISTEN. This, to me is how you feel when you pray and I never pray now as I don't think there is anyone there. The last time I truly prayed was when there was a chemical attack on the Iraq kurds from their own rulers (Sadam) - it absolutely shattered me to see those beautiful children lying in their mother's arms - obviously just going abut their business. I was so distressed I didn't know what to do, so I prayed for them because I felt I had to do something. If God was there, he obviously watche dit all in more detail than my 6 O'clock censored news edition - so why wasn't he moved the same as me?

Welcome Weeping, from Cry.................our user names tells a story don't you think?! It shows just how this mixed up relgion makes you feel. I doubt very much if you have been shown much love from this organisation. I know that I NEVER DID. And, if you make your doctrinal concerns known along with the fact that you have been on this website you will find yourself out in the cold......no questions asked. There are many viewpoints here, from atheists to born again Christians, we all tolerate each other. One thing we all have in common is our complete distaste for the way the JW organisation treats anybody who questions the 'truth'. This is not love. This is intolerance, and the mark of a cult. So what, you got involved with weed, and dabbled in demon practice. You have got that sorted out, so don't dwell on it. Forgive yourself and move on. Take it a step at a time - it is a lot to take in, but stop beating yourself up, you can make your own mind up...............you now don't need to be told what to believe.

I would agree, please don't describe homosexuality as a 'disorder'. It is not, it may not be what floats YOUR boat, or mine, but it is cetainly how some of us are programmed. Enjoy the variet of life.

aquagirl, that is a terrible story you tell. Even in the most divided families, when a death occurs, there is at least a temporary harmony. What do they think they will achieve by behaving like this - will it mean more converts - certainly not! They show themselves up to be a disgusting bunch of mind controlled idiots with no natural affection. You don't need their hugs I am sure I an not alone in sending (((((((hugs)))))))) to you.

Sooo funny. From that article 99% of the population should be homosexual. Even my Catholic upbringing is nothing compared to this. I remember when going through my baptism questions the elder was talking about the man being the head of the home etc. He started talking about women who were trying to be head and then asked me why this would be such a bad thing. I thought for some time about this (my rational mind thought, so what, each household is different, some men take the helm, in others it is the woman) I struggled to find an answer was um and eh all over the place when finally the elder said that if the woman was the head of the household the children would end up being homosexual. I stifled a laugh, no......he couldn't mean this? I agreed, just so that he would get out of my house and leave me alone.

by Mickey mouse in"treasure your place in the congregation.".

"the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience" is so widespread that it is like the air we breathe.

Why Christains make no sense to me, an example from Haiti...
by HappyGuy ini have some in laws who recently went to haiti to do "missionary" work at one of the churches there.
this "missionary" work basically consisted of singing and dancing and entertaining the church goers.
my relatives stayed at some houses owned by the church on the church property.

E.Zenone, your post just proves my point. You have abandoned all LOGIC and answered with 'have you read the bible?'. There is no effort to try and explain how some could be deliberately saved and others perish. Some people admire faith like this - I hate it. It stops you thinking intellectually and from reasoning. Imagine a human father who could protect his children from certain disaster but only chose the ones that he favoured, and let the rest of them die. He would be prosecuted and sent to prison for his lack of care. And why can Christians give logical explanations to problems when it suits them and then hide behind the Bible and Christ when they cannot work up an argument?
