Personally I am happy for anyone who finds religion makes their life complete. My sister has M.S, very disabled, very catholic, but she takes such comfort from reading the bible daily. I am happy that she is a happy and that she can make some sense of her situation. I do not believe her 'take' on things, but I am so happy for her. End of. I will not argue with her over it - I will argue with many others - but not her. It's like she is having a placebo drug that is doing her good - I wouldn't ever tell her that she is getting the placebo, because I love her so much, and I don't have anything better to offer her. "Life is shit and then you die", just wouldn't to it!

Do you atheists resent the believers on here and do you believers resent the atheists?
by Lozhasleft ini'm wondering how people feel about us exjws either becoming atheists or continuing on with a faith in god?.
do you get angry or frustrated at the opposing view?.
i'm new but i've seen different reactions to both on here...as for me i am happy to live and let live nowadays...its ok with me whatever people want to choose for themselves..... personally i still have enormous faith and love for god....if the jws couldnt destroy it i dont think much else could...?.

How awful to hear your story of what amounts to child abuse. It really is abhorrent. I am sure that counselling and chatting with others on this site will help heal the wounds, in fact I know it will. You are on a good path now and not alone.

Behing Rhesus negative myself and having had the Anti-D injection I have 3 kids to thank him for, or at least the last 2 as it doesn't affect first babies. After I had it, my MIL said to me that she had checked with the elders and had been told that it was a matter of conscience. I just thought ............ why would I give a shit about what they think?

Healthcare reform has passed and is signed into law... this is a Big F*cking Deal!
by Elsewhere injust ask our vice president joe biden.
once again, he has put his foot in his mouth by dropping the f-bomb when he shakes obama's hand.. granted... i'll take biden's "this is a big f*cking deal" over dick cheney's "go f*ck yourself" any day.

When it comes to private healthcare here in the UK, it's main appeal is that if you need an operation (not life threatening) you can get treated quickly - queue jump! The care you get is pretty much the same, or as my friend said when she went private - you get a pot of tea instead of a cup! For the major life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, premature births, long term health conditions, prematue births etc etc - private health care makes no difference. Most are happy to be part of the NHS, in fact, a lot of private policies do not cover major situations.

For all its faults and failings, I think there is nobody in the UK who would have their healthcare system other than free at the point of need. It's understood that working people have it deducted from their salaries, as do employers, but it's something that we are all used to. There is nobody standing up asking for it to be privatised, unless they are fortunate enough to be able to look after themselves with private healthcare - and the emphasis has to be on 'looking after themselves'.

I come here because my life over the last 30 odd years has turned to out be a waste of my life (apart from my kids). My husbands behaviour has absolutely baffled all my friends and family.........but people here understand that he is a very damaged person, and understand why. I try to explain this to people, but they have no real understanding of what I mean. In moments of despair, I am able to get my life into context and not feel alone. Aside from that, I love all the information & research and discussion.

With 2 small babies it would have been hard, if not impossible, but I would have left my husband, left the org, taken the kids and then started my life anew. Oh just one thought - then I wouldn't have had my wonderful third son! No......I would have to wait another 8 years and then do the above, it would be worth it.

Welcome to you. You have made the first and most important step - seeing things as they truly are. Don't worry too much about where you go from here. Take it one step at a time and at your own pace. I wish I had such a fabulous resource as this site when I left - I was completely on my own, and sometimes doubted my sanity, or was made to feel that way. You can look forward to some intelligent discussion, with lots of love and some hilarious posts - in other words - exactly the opposite of what you have been used to!

So tomorrow is 'Mothering Sunday'. This is the first one I will have 'celebrated' in over 30 years. My youngest took me out for a meal today - it was lovely, just to be 'normal' and so warming to see my son feeling that it was OK to recognise his Mum. I also sent my mum a Mother's day Card - the first one since I got married to a JW at 18 years old. Although not a believer for some time, I was respectful of my husband's beliefs and didn't celebrate ANYTHING! I am sure my mum must think that I was controlled for all those years, it was not the case. I was just trying to not rock the boat (and please everyone). Personally, I think it is wonderful to acknowledge Mothers and all that they do. One day out of 365 surely is not too much to ask? But, of course, the Borg would think otherwise. So to all you mothers out there...................we salute you!
