I am doing the unthinkable and responding to my own thread.
I just could not bear the thought of starting yet another thread that gets a big fat NIL response.

in another thread outoftheorg said he was unaware that all congregations in the u.k (except scotland) were registered with the charity commission for england and wales.
the following link will take you to the first web page of the names of all these congregations.
it shows the name of the presiding overseer (correspondent), his address and often his telephone number.

since reading the post about the molestation trials in texas, i have been pondering on the possible outcome of these cases.
it is clear that the wbts relies on the firewalls they have set up between the congregations and elders and the corporations.
it seems that the ones in jeopardy, are the congregations and especially the elders.
Here in the U.K. the congregations are registered as Charities (not for profit organisations) with the Elders as the Trustees. The Trustees are accountable in the circumstances being considered here and could be prosecuted in a Court of Law. They are able to take out insurance to cover all eventualities and liabilities - except those in which they are found guilty, in Court, of an illegal act.
Yes, this does raise interesting prospects for them.

so, taking those title elements in reverse order: the young witness is me ?
this story goes back to the early sixties.
the three dates are: february 1986, august 11th 1999, and june 8th 2004. it's the fact that the last of those dates is , after all these years, finally nearly here that made me think of writing this post.
Thanks Duncan,
I, for one, really enjoyed that. Makes you think, doesn't it?
Regards

and what do they believe or not about evolution?
I?m never going to get the hang of this Bible thingy. Can someone please explain how Genesis 1:30 tells you that all animals were vegetarian at one time? All the on-line Bibles that I have looked at say that God gave all green vegetation to every living thing as food. Nowhere can I find any reference to God forbidding the consumption of anything else.
Does this prohibition appear somewhere else in the Bible? What am I missing?

this aircraft is the same model owned by the wt.
it is a twin-engine piper pa-31-310 navajo and it's n number is n254sw
as their other cessna twin-engine, this one is also based in alaska.
The issue here is not is it wrong for the Society to own airplanes, but is it wrong for senior members of the Society to use the amenities paid for and provided by the junior members, for their own R + R. For these senior people to make a scheduled stop at a place with only one or two inhabitants IMHO does not really sound as if it was a business trip.
For those of you who are comfortable with this explanation then so be it.When I was in the military, my C.O. would never have believed me if I had come up with such a story (particularly if I were holding my fishing gear ).

ok... you know the drill... .
- everyone you spoke to in chat last night appears in your dreams, having the same conversation as you did while in chat and on the threads.. - you add your screenname to the end of all emails, including business ones.. - you hit the refresh button on the active topcs page more than 3 times in one minute.. - you shout "apostate bastard!
" at the driver who just cut you off.. .
You start to believe the Trinity Doctrine!

in looking to refute that silly excuse given by the watchtower as to why it joined the un as an ngo, i found two instances of the jw ngo representatives rolling in the hay with the ol' whore.
here is one... (assuming my paste works)

"In respect of the refusal of blood transfusion, the applicant association submits that while this is part of the religious doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses, its acceptance depends on the personal choice of the individual concerned. There are no religious sanctions for a Jehovah's Witness who chooses to accept blood transfusion. Therefore, the fact that the religious doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses is against blood transfusion cannot amount to a threat to "public health", every individual being free in his or her choice. "
Is forcible Dissassociation against someone?s wishes, not classed as a religious sanction?

do you ever wonder why jw's are the most ridiculed?
they are made fun of more than any other religion.
it makes me think about jesus and how he was persecuted and ridiculed for being righteous.
2 + 2
Remember how hard it was not to sing The Pledge of Allegiance, make a Valentine's Card in class, eat Christmas cookies, …….., drink, curse,
You think it’s quite good then to make up your own rules, praise yourself for sticking to them when nobody but you has them and then condemn others for not sticking to the rules that you have made up for yourself?

i have been lurking for a few days and wanted to ask a question.
i stumbled on this website because i have an aquaintance who is a jw and i wanted to learn more about this religion.. first off, let me say that i am a christian.. my question is this: in reading a lot of posts, i see that many of you have left the religion because you believe the wbts has not been truthful in their interpretation of scriptures and because of their incorrect prophecies.
but it seems many of you still believe that they were correct in their belief that the trinity is totally a wrong teaching.
My own observation here over the past couple of years is that many, if not most, ex-JW’s who continue as Christians retain a lot of the Societies interpretation of the Bible. Not all retain the same bits of that interpretation but I would say that most do retain much of it.
