How do you get through the memorial?
by Gorbatchov infor family reasons, gorby and his wife and children has to visit the hall at april 14. our family accept that we are faders, but don't accept if we do not visit the memorial.. so, it seems a small investment: one evening love bombing for a year peace and rest.. but i hate the visit.
headache.
meeting the people knowing it's all fake love showing.. how do you get through it?.

It's one of the shorter meetings. It actually throws a bone to Jesus. And remember, a lot of the JWs are nice people who may actually be glad to see you. They are conditioned to act inhumanely by their cult leaders. Not saying you should go, though (vote with your feet). But if you feel you must, hopefully these points help make it a little easier.

New Prince album quite interesting for JWs
by JimmyPage inyou've probably already heard that prince is calling his new album "follow the slave".
but a closer look at the track list raises even more eyebrows.
check out these song titles: "100 invisible years".

Check out these song titles: "100 Invisible Years". "Rock the Nations". "Called out of Babylon". "Funk of a New Millenium". It appears the man has gone all in for the Witnesses, with contributions from Larry Graham and George Benson. One can only sit back and facepalm at the whole mess.

2014: do you see Witnesses ramping up activity? What will the aftermath be in 2015?
by JimmyPage injw's often say they don't serve with any dates in mind.
but the fact is many of them can't fathom why the end just hasn't come yet.
since 2014 marks 100 years of invisible rule many witnesses can't help but think this has some special meaning.

JW's often say they don't serve with any dates in mind. But the fact is many of them can't fathom why the end just hasn't come yet. Since 2014 marks 100 years of invisible rule many Witnesses can't help but think this has some special meaning. I've seen some previously lethargic JW's start to ramp up their activity this year to help save their own asses before Jehovah starts the genocide. One wonders what fallout there will be next year when life goes on as it always has and no Paradise is restored.
Have you seen JW's ramping up activity in your area? Do you think we'll see a larger exodus from the cult next year?

Tainted Love: Your JW wedding
by Julia Orwell inmine was actually great because my non-jw parents decided to pay for the reception, limo, cake, dress, honeymoon, and more.
i can thank my non-jw parents for what a totally fun day it was.. but, half or more of the guests were jws, jws who don't speak to me anymore.
some have even slandered and abused me.

Mine wasn't in the Kingdom Hall, so that was a good start. I had some non-JW relatives of mine there, another good move. My best man is now an "apostate" also, so we have great conversations about our experiences. And I even managed to slip some non-JW music into the bridal march. All in all, making decisions that the WT would consider poor turned out not too shabby.

trying to convince my wife not to confess...
by wafflesandpancakes induring our engagement, we fooled around and touch each other down there.
it's not a "tap" but definitely is not "stimulation".
i tried to convince my wife, who, after 5 years of marriage, strangely felt guilty all the sudden, that its not do called porneia.

Waffles I can totally relate. My wife and I had sex before marriage. A couple of years into our marriage I discovered the truth about the Truth and discussed it with my wife. At that point I still believed in God and felt I was forgiven. I read the elders' manual on what they look for when it comes to repentance, went to a judicial committee, and told them exactly what they wanted to hear. They gave us a slap on the wrist. It was almost like they were saying, "Yes, most couples, even JW's, have sex before marriage." I think the most shocking thing to my wife was that the holy spirit did not expose me as an apostate.

I find I am Shunning my family !
by Phizzy inalthough i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.

I relate to this topic so much. I never had any intention of shunning JW family members or JW friends. It's just that you can't spend any time with them without hearing about the cult. And I'm done hearing about it.

I had been on this site for a short while when I saw that someone used their real life photo as their avatar and I recognized them immediately. We grew up in the same congregation. I pm'd them and we've gotten together a few times since. Such a great experience to be able to speak openly about what we know now!
