Did Jesus Mention or Confirm the 144,000?
by cameo-d ini must have overlooked it.. it seems the kingdom hiearchy would be important enough to be mentioned.
did jesus ever discuss the "kingdom arrangement"?.
did jesus confirm his cabinet members of the 144,000?.

Now look- you might think heaven is a big place. But truthfully there's just not enough room up there for all of us. The number is fixed at 144,000 and that's that. Quit yer bitchin'.

I still love the four gospels. Everything else brings to mind dry WT discussions with pictures of bearded men in robes and sandals sending me quickly into a heavy ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

Could it be... Satan?
by JimmyPage inrecently i saw a thread linking satanic ritual abuse with jehovah's witnesses.. my first thought was this had to be sensational bullcrap.
but i was intrigued so i decided to look further.. apparently there is a ritual among satanists to reject christ's sacrifice.
that makes sense.. for jehovah's witnesses, it was reasoned, that ritual is carried out every year at the memorial when nearly everyone rejects the bread and the wine.. still thinking the idea was improbable, i then realized: look who started this whole religion- a pyramidologist.

A basic whack job, yes, but was Satanism completely unlikely? After all, one of the books recommended early on in the Watchtower as good reading was an account supposedly given to man by fallen angels ("Angels and Women"). And one of the translators for the Society's version of the Bible was allegedly associated with the occult (Johannes Greber).
Maybe this has all been covered before but any further thoughts on this would, I think, make for a pretty lively discussion!

At 19 I was a ministerial servant and regular auxiliary pioneer. By 22 I was disillusioned with the whole generation of 1914 b.s. and was ready to get the hell out.

Zen living part 3 (summarized): Zen in America
by JimmyPage inzen has been popular in america since the late 1940s when d.t.
suzuki came to america and began to write about zen for westerners.. other zen masters and aficionados have made zen concepts popular and accessible to westerners through the last five decades, including shunryu suzuki, r.h. blyth, jack kerouac, and robert pirsig, the author of "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance".. feminism, psychology, and zennism (the practice of zen minus the practice of buddhism) have all influenced american conceptions of zen.. you don't need to be buddhist or any particular religion to practice zen, but zen can inform and enlighten any spiritual path..

I've read "On the Road", it's great! (I'd love to see a movie made out of that one.)
"Dharma Bums"- not yet. But hopefully I'll get around to it one day.

Personal finance points to remember (point # 3)
by JimmyPage indon't assume that someone with something to sell, who is getting good press and running lots of ads, will take care of you.. that "guru" may just be good at press relations and self-promotion.
certainly, talk shows and the media at large can and do provide useful information on a variety of topics, but bad eggs sometimes turn up.
these bad eggs may not always smell bad upfront.

More details to come on resources you can trust and those that could cause you to go bust!

I'm really sorry to hear about this for you. I'm afraid of the same thing happening myself should I decide to reveal what I now know about this false religion.

Just got my copy of "In Search of Christian Freedom"
by JimmyPage inafter reading "combatting cult mind control" and "crisis of conscience" i wondered what i would read next.
i really enjoyed "coc" and i saw a lot of posts on jwd that mentioned how "in search of" helps jws overcome their aversion to birthdays and holidays.
i feel like that's what i need now to help fully deprogram myself.

I was already okay with holidays in the past when I was inactive and dated "worldly" girls but I understand that this book gives the necessary reasoning from a Biblical viewpoint on these matters.
My child's birthday is coming up soon and I am really looking forward to celebrating it and passing on a sense of normalcy about it.
