  They had a contest at halftime between a boy and a girl to see who could throw the most footballs into a huge can of Dr. Pepper. The girl won! The guy will have a hard time the rest of his life living that one down. But she got a $100,000 scholarship for it, which is awesome.

  with all the hoopla going on over tiger's indiscretions, are you of the mind that sport's players should be role models?.

  i don't.

  to me, they're only gifted athletes, nothing more..

  I don't think anyone is naive enough anymore to expect sports heroes to be role models. But there are those rare athletes who seemed to do things the right way, like Troy Aikman. Of course, as soon as I say that, he'll probably be involved in a scandal today. What's the old saying? "All my heroes have feet of clay."

  I'm in the same boat myself, AK Jeff. It appears to me that there are three stages so far to this process: 1. Doubting the WT, 2. Doubting the Bible, and 3. Doubting God. It all depends on how far down the rabbit hole you're willing to travel.

  lately i did a lot of reading regarding the un scandal, the org being a ngo for 10 years.

  i tried to read both sides, the comments on jwfacts.com, as well as the defense at jehovahsjudgment.co.uk.. and then the endless discussion on topix.com between thirdwitness and alanf and others.. while i am sure, the way the org handled the whole situation, especially after the article in the guardian, was plain wrong, instead of openly confessing a mistake, it was done secretely and only after inquiry, and made it look like a cover-up.. .

  however, considering the whole issue, i think it comes down to one question:.

  My Kids Met Santa Today

  ok - it wasn't santa really - it was guy collecting for the local lions club.

  he gave them a lollipop each and we donated a couple of pounds to the charity.

  i know this mundane to 99.99% of the population, but to us it was a big deal, a major step.

  I was in the mall with my daughter recently when Santa Claus came walking down the hall. I resisted the pre-programmed urge to ignore him and instead pointed him out to her, told her his name, and how he brings toys to children when they are good. He waved and talked to her. She suddenly felt the need to convince me that she was a good girl and wanted toys, too. I didn't need her to convince me, though.
