  "If You Needed A Blood Transfusion Would You Take It?''

  that was the question that i was asked this morning by the nurse before undergoing my procedures at the hospital.

  she said, "some people can't take blood because of their religious beliefs.

  i used to be a jehovah's witness and if needed i will take a blood transfusion".......now that was the first time i ever expressed those words!

  Yeah. My last two surgeries I said to give me as much blood as needed if I was going to bite the dust. The hubster still won't take blood though. In my mind...if it had come right down to the wire...I would have let my kids have a transfusion if their life was on the line. Fortunately, we never had to face that situation. I really feel like I would have murdered my own kids for the sake of the Watchtower if I didn't let them have blood and they were "bleeding out".

  Can you admit that you "used to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses"?

  i was reading about minimus' trip to the hospital and his telling them that he "used to be a jw" but he would take blood now if needed.. it got me to thinking; i don't like telling people that i used to be a jw.

  that's in my past and i prefer to keep it there.

  if asked about my upbringing or religious preference, i usually just comment on being brought up in a strict religion but i got over it..and then try to change the subject.

  If it comes up in some way and is pertinent to the conversation...I most certainly do. I want people to know what they really are instead of the "sugar coated" version they may get from a JW at their door or some sappy convention or KH build story in their local newspaper. Yeah...it's usually good for the shock value too.

  Fluff Topic for the evening: What would you have pursued if you could have?

  i had 3 loves, art, dance and animals.

  how i wish i could have followed up on one of those 3. i have picked up gardening of exotic plants, ....doesn't pay anything but brings me joy.. what was the dream you gave up beacause of being a jw?

  Did You Ever Have a GOOD Body of Elders?

  when i came into the org.

  in the early 1980's, we had a good body of elders.

  they took the lead and cared for the sheep.. the oldest was in his mid- 70's, had a sharp mind, great sense of humor and was just plain cool.

  It was all my Dad's fault!

  dad came down this weekend to party with my brothers and i....... we have this huge on going july 4th party(all weekend) in my town called "river front rendezvous".

  everyone goes for the food, beer, and bands.

  little big town(country band) firehouse(go to love the 80's) were just a few that played there.

  i believe her watchtower summary is one of the best weekly items we look for.

  plus she's one of the sharpest persons on the board.
