i have major updates on my progress of leaving the jw religion.
for those of you who are at a point in your life where i was a year and a half ago, i hope my story helps.
first, though, i have a request for simon: i have e-mailed this request two you at least twice in the past and i have asked you publicly on this forum this request: please, please, please merge my old posting names of 'mister biggs' and 'mister 8iggs' with 'funchback'.
Did you have to ruin the story by mentioning WRITTEN REVIEW? Arghhhhhhhh...now I'm having flashbacks and am breaking out in a cold sweat....JUST KIDDING!
Very interesting story so far...will eagerly await the next part. So glad you and your sister are together again. Loved the picture of you two as kiddies...yup...I can just tell by looking at your "angelic" face that you were pure evil!! (Again...just kidding...jeeeeeeeeshh...where do these people come up with such garbage!)

i feel like a total idiot.
berylblue: What a touching post...not because of the pain you're going through; but because it was so honest and loving. Your mother's words were truly inspiring; we should all be able to think like that. Such a great loss for you and such a great loss for everyone here who has had to "start over" and learn not to be afraid to LIVE! I still feel like I'm just sticking my toes in the water of life so to speak, and every day I wish for the courage to be able to jump right in the water and swim away from all the negative thoughts and feelings that were imposed upon me by the JW's.

i'm ashamed to say i have lurked here for a couple of years without having the courage to jump in.. the insight i have found in these posts has done much to heal the broken hearted.. there is no one that can truly understand this particular experience this without living it.. i was raised in the lower mainland of bc., i will share my own experience as courage will alow.. sincere thanks to all of you for helping me to heal and understand that i am not all by myself.
Hello and welcome oredigger. I've been on here for a couple of years and just "spilled the beans" on my experience as a witness not too long ago. It felt darn good and I have come to trust a lot of the people here on this board. I may never have met them...but they feel like my friends.

thousand of witnesses do it every year and for what they believe are good reasons.
i did it because i was pressured by elders.
its interesting to note how elders can target young people into committing their life to something they really know nothing about.

got home at 3 this morning *yawn* we had a blast though!

one congregation in the 70's allowed only white shirts to be worn on the platform.
if an out of town speaker didn't know the "rule", it was ok. the brothers kept a variety of white shirts in different sizes in case that happened.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh...so many rules; so little time. One friend of mine who was a very gregarious, outgoing person was told by the PO that she laughed too loud in the Kingdom Hall. This same PO and one of his henchmen would walk around telling couples that they were forbidden to touch each other in the Kingdom Hall. This also applied to married couples and any guys sitting together. The carpet was to be vacuumed only once a month so it wouldn't wear out...so those nasty little manual carpet cleaners that didn't do diddly squat had to be used inbetween.
We also were forbidden to heckle the local speakers or throw rotten vegetables at visiting speakers.
there's been too much volatile stuff going around, and a few folks appear tetchy.. can we drop any issues, and just enjoy a ((((group hug)))) for a moment.... ((((hugs to everyone)))).

coz regardless of the ups and downs, this place is a little like the family i lost.... sometimes i need to take a step back, have a break and some quiet time, but that's ok, too.. every blessing to everyone,.

this is unbelievable.
i was at the watchtower meeting last sunday and one elder gave an answer that jw 's do not have the problems like the cathlic church where the preist are molesting boys or the church has to pay huge sums of money out to abused cases.
is he not aware what is happening within the jw organization ?
Me thinks, my dear CaptK, it is a case of the proverbial blinders on the horse, errrrrr, I mean ass (you know, as in a donkey). The organization is full of ignorant elders...and that's the way the Boy's Club in New York likes it. Amen.
