  Looks like Russell was at least giving some credit to the 'churches' at that time - an understanding that is more acceptable than the current one -

  He had to, as it took several decades before WTBTS introduced the one and only NWT.

  Under the current opinion of the Borg, if u were an Indian or Cambodian, you would not have much chance of hearing before dying at the BIG A would you?

  Fifty years ago I was told that actually every and each human of (age?) this world will be faced personally with the glad tidings before the BIG A will sweep all but dubs. The only problem being that I did not know then that they had had several BIG A predictions already.

  In his book ?The Plan of the Ages? Russell wrote that the preaching obligation of Matt.24:14 was already fulfilled by his time (italics original):

  There are two texts chiefly relied upon by those who claim that the Lord will not come until after the Millenium, to which we would here call attention. One is, ?This gospel of yhe kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall end come.? (Matt. 24:14) They claim this as having reference to the conversion of the world before the end of the Gospel age. But witnessing to the world does not imply the conversion of the world. The text says nothing about how the testimony will be received. This witness has already been given. In 1861 the reports of the Bible Societies shoved that the Gospel had been published in every language of earth, though not all of earth?s millions had received it. No, not one half of the sixteen hundred millions living have ever heard the name of Jesus. Yet the condition of the text is fulfilled: the gospel has been preached in all the world for a witness ? to every nation. (The Plan of the Ages, 1908 and 1916 editions pp. 91-92)

  i found this somewhat amusing old passage:

  yet on earth he has gathered into the temple condition of perfect unity with himself (malachi 3:1-3), and hence those faithful men of old may be expected back from the dead any day now.

  I found this somewhat amusing old passage:

The Scriptures give good reason to believe that it shall be shortly before Armageddon breaks.

  In this expectation the house at San Diego, California, which house has been much publicized with malicious intent by the religious enemy, was built, in 1930, and named ?Beth-Sarim?, meaning ?House of the Princes?. It is now held in trust for the occupancy of those princes on their return. The most recent facts show that the religionists of this doomed world are gnashing their teeth because of the testimony which that ?House of the Princes? bears to the new world.? (The New World 1942 p. 104)

  If I recall it correctly Beth Sarim was sold around 1947 and few years later this resurrection of princes was "adjusted". Obviously this was already from Fred's pen?

  New 607 info?

  i just discovered something i have not seen anywhere before.

  i was looking at my old "all scripture inspired" book, and i say old because it was the first edition from 1963 and i had used it for years.

  according to the wt cd there were revisions in 1983 and 1990. i came across this little goodie under the book of daniel.

  Interesting info Haereticus.

  Unfortunately that was just a part of what I actuallay had in mind, but here is the rest. I have been through these books from my early years and "Yuor will be done on earth" (1958) page 109 says:

  "Of this impressive fact Jehovah God notified the king of Babylon in the second year of his reign as world ruler, or in 606-605 B.C."

  This is the same what 1963 edition si page 139 says, 1963 si was translated and published in finnish 1978 and translation has this 1963 si phrasing.

  they could say that they have meant that he became king of Babylon in 624 BC, but did not become WORLD ruler until he polished off the mighty Israelites, thereby becoming world ruler in 607 BC.

  "You may survive Armageddon into God's New world" (1955) page 127 describes seven world powers of which (2) Assyria and (3) Babylon. On page 128 the third head of the wild beast, Babylon, overthrew Assyria by capturing its capital city Niniveh in 632 B.C.

  To me this all seems like WTBTS is re-re-re-rewriting whatever they call history.

  It sounds like someone in Finland has just been disfellowshipped and is totally pissed off!!

  It sounds all right, but one could consider local factors also. According to a national survey borg is the most disliked religious domination in this country.

  when i was a kid and on vacation in florida about 20 years ago, my dad had mentioned about an "apostate group" in florida and that it was called "jehovah's christian witnesses" supposedly they even had their own kingdom halls, how many others here are aware of this group and do they even exist still?

  with it's tubes made of different minerials etc.

  The tubes at that time were missing modern barium oxide cathode and graphite anode. Those old vacuum tubes did consist of mainly metal and glass. Minerals were used in early detectors with "cat whisker" but not with tubes.

  i am about to start wiring my house for home theater speakers and i'm wondering what type of jack i should install in the wall behind the tv.

  i've noticed all sorts of speaker jacks that are available and i have no idea which ones i should use..
