Sad.
Never met the guy except to read many of his interesting bible discussions in the archives here.
RIP
i was given the link to a bit of information regarding on old poster/moderator of this forum.
i was not sure of the validity of the information so have been trying to find out if it is true.. earlier today craig's estranged wife, kate, (bikerchic) confirmed that craig died at his home on aug 10, 2011.. i am sure that many people here remember craig's time here and how he went out of his way to offer support to posters, even calling them, to give whatever help he could as they adjusted to their post-jw lives.. i know many people here will grieve his loss.. --------------.
ps i tried posting this earlier but the computer i was working with would not allow the posts.

i started following thread when it was first posted, got busy, and then came back it was 12 pages long...so i'm starting a new one.. last night in my psych of religion class (which is incredibly fascinating, btw), i learned this:.
"fundamentalism" is a 20th century phenomenon.
it means that the believer has boiled down his beliefs to 5 fundamental beliefs:.
Very interesting Georgiegirl!
I couldn't help but thinking cognitive dissidence when reading what you wrote. Most of what we believe what we believe because we've been taught very young to believe it.
I'm also curious if you remember the Bible verses to see what they were.
i'd like to ask undercover why he has so many responses that are similar to what i think?.
finally free, are you really as cranky as you seem?.
Says someone who's been here for 3 years!
Broken Promise has it really been that long? Time sure does fly! I post a lot too don't I?
Atman - why are you here? Loz x
I'm here mostly searching for answers. My background as a jw very young in life left me wondering about the cult. I also have some friends and family who are jw's. I wonder why they say and think some of the stuff they do so I look here and other forums. I find the social dynamics here to be fascinating, I just don't take the time to participate much I'm too busy living life, getting a life, studying in school. Hope that helps you understand me a bit better. Peace, out.

I've always wondered why so many of you leave a cult only to chain yourselves to this forum 24/7? I understand the need to heal, and to help others, but really for years?
When is enough enough?
i have had it with my mother.
i've spoken on the board before about her.
she is fanatically religious, often keeps me on the phone for hours while she talks endlessly about the bible.
She is fanatically religious, often keeps me on the phone for hours while she talks endlessly about the bible. Attempts to steer her to other topics are never successful.Toxic people have toxic relationships. A healthy person can move beyond and not engage a toxic person. It truly does take two to tangle. We all have the ability to create the life we want and if you no longer want to have a relationship with your mother because you are not able to (at this time) separate her emotional blackmail from your need to have a mother/daughter relationship, one could say the proverbial writing is on the wall. You my dear have some growing to do and when you are stronger you will not mind having a casual relationship with your mother. Take the good, ignore the bad.
There are ways to grow, mature and become strong without totally cutting a toxic person out of your life. You define how you want to be treated and when you wish or don't wish to engage them. Funny thing about phones, texting, email....ect...we can control when we want to use them or not.
Think about it. Life is not all black and white, this or that we have other options, think about yours and what you truly want and how you contribute to the outcome.
Peace, out.
i've ran across this several times on the internet never took much notice until i was sent this by a family member who knew my parents were at one time jw's.
somehow he thought this would interest me, it mostly got me to thinking about how many cults there are out there.. i would be interested in anything you here have to say..

Sorry for your troubles broD, it's got to be a real heartache for you for sure. JW's are sure a *ucked up bunch with what they do to families. Stupid cult!
I wonder if it's been just as hard for you to keep up the pretence and the hope that somehow you'll get through to her? That can be a real drain on a relationship, your health and serenity. I hope you find the peace you deserve soon.
Just wanted to let you know there really is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it's a different light you'll adjust, you'll make the best of it I'm sure.
Peace, out.
just got back from an awesome time in maui.
today we got a call from my fil.
my mil has been in utah for the last week or so and found out that her family past was full of "demon activity".
Everyone else can see them, Darth. Are they just showing up blank for you?
It does not show up, only the first post altho the main page under Active shows others have made comments, weirdness.
dear ones.
rather, it is our adversary who says we will do anything... anything... to avoid it.
a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. even curse god to his face.
Quote from Ram Das: I don't understand why everyone is so afraid of dying? Why are they so afraid of ceasing to exist for all eternity after their death? "I" didn't exist for millions of years before my birth, and it didn't bother me one bit!I love that quote!
let's say you're an active witness (well, you guys were, or are active witnesses) and you look around you.
practically every appliance, invention, whatever, most of the food, all the new discoveries, virtually everything was made by worldlies.
it's been that way for thousands of years.
They'll use all the social services and not even vote to make sure these services are intact.
