A day in field service
by dsgal in7:30-too early to get up on a saturday morning but the co is visiting and i must show up to make our cong.
9:00 - arrive at kh, smile and say "good morning" to everyone (even though i'm still half asleep).
he visited had 69 people when he was there.

7:30-Too early to get up on a Saturday morning but the CO is visiting and I must show up to make our cong. look better.
9:00 - Arrive at KH, smile and say "good morning" to everyone (even though I'm still half asleep). Sit and listen to CO shame us for only having 67 people show up for service - last cong. he visited had 69 people when he was there. (we are falling behind)
9:20 - Everyone goes to the back to lollygag or go to the bathroom and kill some time. I just stand there waiting on my group to get ready.
9:30 - Finally leave KH and head out for territory. Pioneer sister has some RV's so we do those instead of door-to-door. (I am glad, didn't feel like walking anyway.) Nobody is home, even though I saw the curtain move at a couple of houses. Magazines are left in the doors anyway. Ride around between RV's listening to elderettes discuss all the latest juicy gossip about certain ones in the cong.
10:20 - Go to Mickey D's for a break. Feel stupid wearing a dress - everybody there has on shorts and tees.
10:45 - Go leave back issues of mags at a couple of washaterias.
11:00 - Go back to KH, get in my car and go home. ANOTHER 2 HOURS IN !!!

i was more or less born into the jw religion and raised as one.
my mom was a pretty strict believer, but she didn't get baptized until i was 9, "surprisingly" my parents got divorced three years later.

Hi Random,
I am also a newbie here but I tell you what people here are a lot friendlier than most at the kh.They act like they will be df'd from their clique if they're seen with someone who isn't in the "in crowd".I heard more gossip when I would go with a car group than I ever heard from a "worldly" person.And these were elder's wives! I imagine they talked about me too when I wasn't there.They would also make fun of certain ones in the cong.Anyway,I finally got so tired of all the backbiting,gossip and the way they look down on some that I just walked away.No DA letter,no nothing, just made like a bakery truck and hauled buns out of there! I also wonder about the revision of the word "generation" and why the number of memorial partakers isn't decreasing.This is a question I have posted on this board.

Why dont JW's have a youth group?
by In_between_days insomething that has been alarming to my jw family is the amount of teens ("young ones") that have bailed out of the organisation, never to return.. they use the excuse, as would most jw's that "satan is getting them - he knows young ones are vulnerable.".
if you want my opinion, young people are getting far more educated - they are becoming far more broad minded than they were say 10 or 20 years ago.
because of the slow yet sturdy slackening of the "no college" rule, many more young jw's are attending university or college than ever before, and with further education comes more knowledge, more interaction with reasonable and intelligent conversations with educated people and most importantly -use of the internet ("satans latest tool, as put by a jw i talked to recently).

My 16 year old son always wondered the same thing.My nephew would talk a lot about the youth group at his church and what they were going to do on the weekend (basketball,bus trips,movies)but the witnesses did not have anything like that for youths.All they are supposed to do is get out there in field service and get that time in!Oh,some of them would go bowling or get a basketball game up every now and then,but he was never invited.As a matter of fact,neither of us were ever invited to anything because we were'nt in the "clique".We finally got tired of all elitist bulls**t and got our unwanted @$$e$ out of there.We both left with heavy hearts and to this day we have'nt gotten over it.

Who are the 144,000?
by EXJWBrit ini swallowed and believed such much shit when i was a jw that i have a few more questions to ask anyone who has the answers.
the 144,000 is a big gripe of mine........ right, i was told that the 144,000 found out they were one of the anointed when they had a flash of "revelation" at some point and truly believed it or they had known since they were a child.
what a load of shit!

I personally knew one who claimed to be one of the 144,000.He broke up my brothers marriage but still partook of the emblems every year.So yes, I would say some do it for attention.By the way,here's something I've been wondering about-Why did the number of them steadily dwindle away until about the mid-1980's and then seemed to halt at around 8,000 and has been in that range ever since?Anybody got any ideas on this one?

What pisses you off about elders wives?

the elders wife that really pisses me off, is the one that would boastfully announce that jehovah had provided her husband with a part-time teaching job, emphasising that his employment was "on the line" each year....but thanks to jehovah,(in other words) we are so fucking loyal and do many hours in field service and things that nobody could possibly know about ( but i'm letting you know indirectly) so my husband has an income to assist us in our pioneer service!

by dsgal ini faithfully attended all the meetings at the local kingdom hall...someone was studying with me...i went out in field service.but i never got invited to any of their social events.this hurt me so bad i stopped going to meetings.just curious,anyone else ever experience shunning?
