  Have you ever seen a JW with a beard?

  ok, you've probably guessed i'm not talking about the women!.

  but jesus had a beard (just look at any wt publication) so did paul, john the baptiser (or baptist if you've got an earlier publication), etc.. surely all jw men should have beards!

  they are christians (the only true ones) aren't they?

  I have never seen a JW with a beard.My brother was advised by his study conductor to shave his beard when he was considering baptism.

  Hi MegaDude,

  I know what you mean.I live right over here in Mesquite and I've been coughing all week.I'm originally from Kentucky but my family moved here (East Dallas area)when I was thirteen years old in 1967 so now it is home to me but I still hate the smog.Also the HEAT!!!

  does anyone remember the advice from from the stage, encouraging mothers to remove babies from the room when they were hungry?.

  how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?

  was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?

  I never heard of the wooden spoon but there were plenty of parents who took their children to the bathroom and let them have the hand.Everybody in the hall could hear"smack,smack,smack!But everyone just let it ride and chalked it up to just one more kid interrupting Jehovah's spiritual meal.That could be avoided if they would just have a Sunday School program.

  i remember once doing the closing prayer for field service.

  at the time, i didn't know what to believe, and was simply going through the motions.

  i would much rather been in bed.

  I screwed up all the time as a dub.Screwed up talks,choked up at the doors when asked a certain question,nothing but a big screw up .Couldn't do anything right so I got out.

  sorry if this has been done to death, i only did a quick scan and didn't see a topic like this, so i appologize in advance if this was started someplace else.. this morning i woke up and thought about where i was last year, and the complete shock i felt at this same time last year...and i was just wondering if any of you had those same feelings this morning.. so where were you?

  i always find stories of what people were doing at the time they heard to be really interesting-please share if you'd like.

  I had just dropped my daughter off at beauty college and came home and turned on the t.v. a couple of minutes after the first plane struck the WTC.I watched in absolute horror and cried.

  on the back of the october 1, 1997 wt, there is a piece on charity dub style.

  the title promises a lot, but sentence number 1 immediately qualifies the concept - dub charity is for dubs.

  the rest is a testimony by an un-named brother about congregational kindness shown him and his wife while she was dying and after her death.

  Which did you prefer? Watchtower or Awake?

  when i was a jw, i really couldn't stomach the watchtowers.

  the only articles i would read would be for the family study/watchtower study.

  it seemed so archaic and old-people-ish.. i did read the awake from cover to cover almost every time.

  I always looked forward to the latest issue of the Watchtower,hoping there would be some"new light".When I finally realized that "new light"was in fact just something made up to cover their @$$e$ for mistaken "old light" I quit reading it altogether.I never found the Awake! very interesting.Who cares about the monarch butterfly's migratory pattern?
