You should not store it in the garage unless it is cool and dry all year-round. Even then, make sure the drums and accessories are wrapped and protected from dust. It sounds like a valuable drum set.

Yeah, there's an app for that!
by DNCall inif you search on "jehovah" in the app store on iphone, you will find some amazingly telltale apps that reveal the kind of thinking fostered within jw culture.. to quote from one called ministry school timer: "the bible highlights timer allows you to not only time the bible highlights but also to time each individual comment, which also counts them and averages them.
each comment time will appear in a list and those over 30 seconds long will appear in red.
" so now brother school overseer can ream the brothers with precision when they go overtime on their comments.. another one called my time offers: ".

If you search on "Jehovah" in the app store on iPhone, you will find some amazingly telltale apps that reveal the kind of thinking fostered within JW culture.
To quote from one called Ministry School Timer: "The Bible Highlights timer allows you to not only time the bible Highlights but also to time each individual comment, which also counts them and averages them. Each Comment time will appear in a list and those over 30 seconds long will appear in red." So now Brother School Overseer can ream the brothers with precision when they go overtime on their comments.
Another one called My Time offers: ". . . a program that is useful for Jehovah's Witnesses to keep up with our calls, return visits, literature placements and field service time so that you can accurately keep up with your field service activity report for the month." (Emphasis added.) That's got to be the last thing the Society wants. Imagine if time was accurately reported, without rounding up estimating or simply lying, how the numbers would plummet.
"Field Service Assistant" features a stop watch so that you can be accurate to the second! Oh wait, what if you come out with 14:59 minutes for the month? You're screwed.
Gotta love the monster they've created!

Wobble: "The thing I found amusing was that one Guy who wrote one or more of the songs has now DA'd. his story is on Freeminds,I think, and on a thread here."
I'm that guy. I didn't DA. I was disfellowshipped for apostasy after 2 years of inactivity, prior to which I withdrew from my congregation responsibilities, which included writing music for the Society. IMHO: I have answered many of your questions in the article and posts referred to above. In addition, I have made comments on other songbook-related threads. As far as the selection/deletion process for the new songbook is concerned, I was involved until I bowed out. After that, I can't say, but David Splane was the GB member who was most involved in supervision. -

Evil lying Manipulators OR Captive Duped Slaves Duping Others (or some of both)?
by OnTheWayOut ini see many threads that address this issue, but i still don't have a clear thought on this.
so i want your help.. the governing body misleads the members- no doubt.
they do change some of their history to make the wt organization look smarter or better-guided by "jehovah.

A couple of thoughts:
Regarding who wields the real power, it must be acknowledged that legal has much influence over the operation of the various corporations. At times, this can spill over into congregation procedure (i.e., wording of disfellowshipping/disassociation announcements, child custody issues, etc.)
Perhaps the stockholders likewise have influence and are enriched by the organization's operations. In the absence of hard evidence, this is speculative. The stockholders I have known would be wealthy without their involvement in the corporate affairs of the Society. I believe the real power lies in the power over people's lives, as opposed to power to make decisions governing corporations. The lawyers and stockholders are Jehovah's Witnesses in good standing. As such, they are under the power of the Governing Body. Without the power over people's lives, there would be no cash flow, no volunteer workforce and no need for corporations.
As far as how aware the GB is of past error is concerned, I believe Ray Franz wrote that he was unaware of certain negative aspects of the religion's history when he was on the GB. From what I know, in the post-Rutherford era, those with substantive knowledge in this area are all dead. I don't believe any on the current Governing Body are as aware of the organization's true history as are many on this board.

To get around the contradiction that they are not inspired but yet are "spirit led," I believe the following scenario has been invented: When the GB meets, they pray for the holy spirit to guide them. To the extent they are following the direction set forth in the spirit-inspired Scriptures, they can be said to be "spirit led." However, since they are also imperfect, there will be times when they fail to fully discern what the Scriptures are saying.
This is the same rationale used to explain why someone appointed by spirit to be an elder can cover up his wrongdoing and still serve as an elder. Of such a person it is said that he can be regarded as spirit appointed to the extent he lives up to the Scriptural requirements for elders.
So, when adjustments are made, even major ones and reversionary ones, it is credited to a more complete understanding of the Scriptures. This would include acknowledging, if only to themselves, that they were wrong in the past.
Their keen, albeit mistaken, sense of stewardship over the "Lord's belongings" forces them to avoid anything that would jeopardize the process of protecting and adding to those belongings. Hence the non-disclosure of information that would damage their credibility as stewards.
Their captivity to a concept and their being victimized by victims governs the Governing Body and molds their conscience. Had honesty and love of what is right governed, they would have either made sweeping changes, admissions and apologies, or they would have closed up shop altogether.
