I would go to their residence, knock on the door and ask whoever answers about your mother's health. You are not bound Watchtower rules and your father's wishes do not trump his daughter's need to know the condition of her mother.

Please help. I am losing the plot.
by wordyword inafter being a witness for 40 years, i now find myself disfellowshipped.. i have had a number of doubts for a few years now, but still feel as if i'm living my life in the "t minus " to armageddon spector.. my parents are in their 80's and my dear mother is in very bad health.
i was allowed to pop through - about once a month to make sure my parents were ok and for them to see their grandchildren.
this all ended after the july watchtower article and especially since the district convention - with all the "counsel" on associating with disfellowshipped family members.. around 6 weeks ago, my dad asked me point blank why i wasn't trying to get reinstated.

Jam & Eyeuse2b: I went to 'em all: Hollywood Hills, East L.A. (those were generally the best), Orange County, SF Valley, etc., etc. I'm sure I knew the group from Santa Monica although I stayed away from horses. If either of you would pm me, I'd like to see if I remember you.
Coffee: I knew Jack. Really good musician.
GMA: Re your husband; I might remember him. Can you pm me with his name?
Besty & Oub: You're both too young to know what I'm talking about (and too innocent).

BluePill2: Search DNCall Unmasked.
This video was made in 2001/2002 and for me it signaled an asserting of the Governing Body's authority in a more aggressive way. Fast forward to July 2013 and you can now see where it was all headed. For all intents and purposes it's no longer Moses = Watchtower Leadership, it's Jehovah = Governing Body.

This video brings back a lot of bad memories. I composed the majority of the music score for this video. It was always a challenge attempting to enhance the emotional values of the Society's videos with music because they were so lacking in emotional richness or subtlety. I had a knot in my stomach throughout the process of working on this because I was sensing the naked manipulation in this video. In retrospect it was therapeutic for me to write down the following:
The Premise
Moses = Watchtower Leadership
Korah, Dathan & Abiram = modern-day apostates
The Reality
In the Bible, Moses had a record of miracles to support God’s appointment of him. The Watchtower leadership has a record of failed prophecy, vacillating interpretations of the Scriptures and erroneous interpretations that have destroyed families or caused many unnecessary deaths.
Korah, Dathan and Abiram were trying to replace Moses and take over the leadership of Israel. By in large, modern-day apostates simply want to exit the Watchtower organization without incident. Some of them, like me, hope to see the Watchtower organization reap what it has sown within our lifetime.

by InChristAlone insince my family is out of town, and i am alone this weekend, i have decided to attend this once to see these things for myself.
have no fear, i have absolutely no interest in joining.
my goal is simply to better understand how to reach those who are on the inside, and i feel i could better do that by observing it.

Practicing something is doing it regularly. The Bible talks about practicing sin and so this word is used in connection with uncleanness. Unfortunately, if you happen to have even one self-righteous elder on a committee, the committee might define "practice" as doing something more than once. Thus, one committee may define "practice" different from another committee. You and your fiancee may want to think about that before going to the elders again.

A much larger issue, with greater long-term effects, is that you are starting to have doubts about JWs and he isn't. Before you both decide on how you will deal with the elders (btw the elders are taught that uncleanness is on a par with sexual immorality if it is practiced), you need to honestly evaluate your doubts--whether you can stifle them for the sake of being married to a man who may have a different view of JWs or whether you need to communicate openly with him about them. His reaction, if you communicate your doubts, may cause you to view him in a new light. It may be that he has doubts that he has stfiled for your sake. Either way, better to have a handle on this now, than after you're married.

Open letter Re: Mr. Bowen, Mrs. Anderson
by Prime in"jws leaders need to mandate elder bodies to uniformly report abuse to the authorities no matter what jurisdiction; prohibit elders from being involved in any investigative process to decide guilt or innocence in place of the authorities; do away with the two-witness rule to determine, as if they were magistrates, guilt or innocence of someone accused; prohibit so-called repentant molesters from engaging in the door-to-door ministry, and always inform the congregation if a convicted or confessed molester is meeting with them.
" -barbara anderson .
this is another reason why the watchtower society doesn't require that the elders uniformly report abuse to the authorities no matter what jurisdiction.

Prime,
I haven't engaged you before and really don't want to now. Besty is a good friend of mine (terrific guy, really). He asked a simple question to which I hoped you would provide a simple answer: " why are elders instructed to call the Watchtower legal department before doing anything else?" If you don't know why, simply answer "no." If you do know why, please share. A simple answer from you, either way, would prove most informative to this debate that you have initiated.
Thank you in advance.
