  in the october 2019 watchtower, in the article "1919--one hundred years ago" it states:.

  "but the brothers at headquarters could not just resume the work that they had been doing for years.

  because during their imprisonment, all the printing plates that were used to print literature had been destroyed.

  In the October 2019 Watchtower, in the article "1919--One Hundred Years Ago" it states:

  "But the brothers at headquarters could not just resume the work that they had been doing for years. Why not? Because during their imprisonment, all the printing plates that were used to print literature had been destroyed. This was discouraging, and some brothers wondered if the preaching work was finished."

  Does anyone know why all the printing plates were destroyed during the officers' imprisonment?

  I can understand destroying the plates for "The Finished Mystery" due to its underlying the charges against Rutherford, et al. But why all the plates?

  It's no wonder that, one hundred years later, the same "Theocratic Warfare" is practiced whereby congregation records are shredded and older literature is purged from Kingdom Hall libraries and online access.

  Anna Marina: The award winning commercial you reference was shot and conceptualized by Timothy Galfas II, now deceased. Although Timothy had been a Witness for many years, he had been disfellowshipped prior to making the commercial. A couple decades later he applied for reinstatement and finished his life in good standing with the Org. He knew Rutherford. He also knew Bonnie and Bill Heath. The Galfas family the Heath family both lived in Atlanta, GA, where the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. is headquartered.

  He always carried a briefcase. Wondered what was inside. Saw him berate Bert Schroeder once. Fit into their persecution complex nicely, so they let him do his thing. When he was backed up on by the truck, I'm told the Bethelites got him into an ambulance and off to the hospital.

  This was an appeal not to the Ohio State Supreme Court but to the State Court of Appeals. It did not concern the case as a whole but rather as to whether the lower court erred when it ordered Watchtower to produce a number of documents. The Court of Appeals ruled against Watchtower's claim of clergy-penitent privilege with the exception of four documents, which it ruled did not have to be produced by Watchtower. It ordered that the majority of the documents requested by McFarland be produced.

  From the child abuse cases against Watchtower that I have read, Watchtower's appeals based on clergy-penitent privilege have failed for the most part. The differences between the states and even between the U.S. and Canada with respect to this privilege do not differ to a great degree.

  Due to the way Watchtower handles these matters by involving elders, judicial committees, the service and legal departments, they rarely stay within the bounds of the clergy-penitent privilege.

  I don't know what became of this 2016 case. I suspect the parties settled because I haven't heard of this case until today. If anyone has an update, I'm sure we would all appreciate hearing more about it.

  a 69-year-old thousand oaks man facing multiple sexual abuse charges by the ventura county district attorney’s office was arrested last week, authorities said.. steven skyler abbott was arrested dec. 6 after months of investigation into the reported sexual abuse of two thousand oaks girls, according to the ventura county sheriff’s office.

  in november, the ventura county district attorney’s office filed multiple felony sexual abuse charges against abbott, including two counts of continuous sexual abuse, one count of lewd acts upon a child and one count of forcible lewd acts upon a child.. he is also facing multiple felony enhancements and special allegations related to his charges.. the investigation began in september, when the sheriff’s agency received a report of suspected child crimes.. a 16-year-old victim alleged that she was sexually abused by abbott when she was between the ages of 5 and 11, sheriff’s officials said.. sexual assault unit detectives subsequently identified a second, 24-year-old victim who reported that abbott had abused her when she was between the ages of 3 and 7, authorities said.. the sheriff’s agency said the victims and their families had come into contact with abbott through the kingdom hall of jehovah’s witnesses in newbury park.. investigators submitted their findings to prosecutors, who filed felony sexual abuse charges against abbot on nov. 16, officials said.. on nov. 28, an arrest warrant was issued for abbott.. the suspect was eventually arrested at his home on dec. 6 and booked into ventura county jail.

  I am getting in touch with an exJW whose JW sister spent some weeks living with the Abbot family while she rebelling from from her JW parents. This girl is now about 34, married and still a Witness. Abbot may have left her alone but in case he molested her, she needs to know about the authorities' invitation to come forward.
