When I was in the cult, every other local needs part was on improving meeting attendance. It happened so frequently that after awhile, most of our meetings were about going to meetings. Not to mention the fact that the target audience of such a discussion was not in attendance. -

San Diego abuse case: stay tuned. Zalkin's motion to be considered this Friday.
by Sugar Shane inzalkin proposing huge sanctions if jw leadership fails to produce documents.
unredacted this time!
feds need to get involved with this.

My guess is that the motion that will be heard Friday was filed prior to the appellate court's ruling in the Lopez case that terminating sanctions were not appropriate when lesser sanctions had not been requested. The Lopez case was remanded back to the lower court for further consideration. This may alter Mr. Zalkin's strategy when he argues his motion on Friday.
Regardless, it looks more and more as though Watchtower will have to produce the documents sought in both the Lopez and Padron cases. The more they resist, the more notoriety these cases will receive in the media.

This is the third Governing Body member I have heard this story attributed to. The others were Carey Barber and Lyman Swingle. I have interacted with all three of them and my money is on Carey Barber. I don't believe Dan or Lyman would have behaved this way and certainly not in a public setting. -

Next time the "L word" gives you anxiety, remember that loyalty is only as virtuous as the object of that loyalty. -

What does the rise of Donald Trump tell us about the USA?
by fulltimestudent ini thank one of my former lecturers for drawing my attention to this overview.. after some 100 years, living out its "manifest destiny" dream, as the hegemon of the world, what has this 'dream' done to/for the usa?
the approaching presidential election provides an opportunity to examine this question.. and what of all the appendage organisations (like the wts) that rode across the world on the hegemon's coattails?.
the answer may be here: http://www.vox.com/2016/3/1/11127424/trump-authoritarianism.

The formula JWs adhere to for determining Nisan 14 is that the new moon closest to the spring equinox as seen from Jerusalem is determined to be Nisan 1. 14 days later is Nisan 14. They are consistent in holding to his formula regardless of the Jewish calendar, or when Good Friday, or Easter are observed.
I can only guess that they put themselves in the position of someone who attended the Last Supper in 33 CE and do the math from there. I think they are less concerned about accuracy than they are stubborn about consistency with their own tradition.

Who can come up with the punch line why JW's are not delusional.
by James Mixon injw seek treatment for mental breakdown.. he tells the physician, my non-jw family tell me i'm nuts because i preach we are the only true religion (jws).. the doctor said that is strange because i have two patients that checked in yesterday and they .
each said they belong to the only true religions.
one is a mormon and the other a muslim.. so the doctor thought i will lock all three up in the same room for the night and see what.

JW response: Because we were chosen in 1919 and they weren't. See? I'm not delusional. -
