Wondering.....

our son became involved with the jws about 4 years ago, due to his jw wife (they married before she was baptized).

i don't believe our son is baptized yet.

i was wondering....if a person is not baptized yet, do the elders still put pressure on the person to do more, ie field service, talks, etc.

What you said is true, the sad part is that once they have children, they bring them into the cult. The children can't make choices for themselves, they just have to go along. The damage is done by time they are old enough to decide for themselves and by that time they are usually brain washed.

I don't worry about my daughter, she is old enough to decide if she want's to go along with this BS but the children have no choice and children love when they are pleasing to their parents. My daughter is so PROUD when my 7 yr. old grand-son raises his hand to anwer at the Sunday meeting. It turns my stomach, I see the brain washing going on and he is so proud he is making mom so happy.

They stopped over last Sunday after the meeting and had my grand-son make a watchtower magazine presentation. I wish you could see the proud look on my daughters face. I don't make any fuss over it, just go on about how nice they look and bring them in and insist on taking pictures. I will not discuss the WT with them

I wish you well, Lavendar, it will be really be painful if you have to watch your grand-kids miss out on all the fun things other kids are doing, especially Christmas.

Lavendar, I hope something happens one day to open their minds, like so many on this forum had their eyes opened to the WT. I get so excited everytime I see another JW leave the cult. Keeps me thinking it COULD happen. I hope for your sake, your son can see through this false religion before you have a grand-baby. Keep our fingers crossed.

I sure hope you plant enough seeds before they start having children. My daughter married a JW and got baptized. She told me she would never get extreme in it. Well, she is. Now I have to watch my grand-kids be denied birthday parties, Christmas, Valentines Day parties at school, Halloween parties at school, and not being allowed to say the Pledge.

At one point my grand-son and grand-daughter told me that, if I do birthday and Christmas, I worship Satan. Of course I set them straight on that.

I just think you need to do all you can before he gets to involved.

I'm Perfect Your Doomed -book

i just received my copy and am only on about pg 20 but i think you guys would enjoy it enormously!!

it is funny and even a non jw would understand the workings of dubland.

so far i highly recommend it and am anxious to hear what the ex jw's here have to say about it.. .

I also started a thread on this book. I thought the was boring. I agree Carla, she had other issues like a chemical imbalance. I also would not recomend it to any one fading. I thought possibly I could pass it on to my daughter but its not that kind of book.

I have read better stories on this forum and found some of the best JW humor on this forum. I'm sorry I spent $2400 on this book. I am sorry to have to give her book such a poor rating but this forum is a much better read.

This forum isn't costing any of us any money and I really feel there are a lot more interesting things to read here and the humor here far surpasses what I have read in this book.

She did add humor but nothing that made me laugh out loud, however, reading things on this forum had me cracking up several times.

I was disappointed in this book, I kept reading it hoping it would get better. I guess I got spoiled by this forum. I have found better writings and stories here and a heck of a lot more humor. I get the drift of the book and how it screwed up her life but to me it was rather boring.

I honestly think if simon, farkel, or any of you on this forum could really put together a great book just on the humor and life stories right off this forum. Of course, if you use anybodies writings, you should split the profit. lol.

Just my opinion.

Wing Control and Cameo, I totally agree with both of you. Why should anyone have to walk on eggs all their day's afraid they might upset someone because of their own feelings? You disagree and your being punished daily for following your own thinking and reasoning. One partner calling all the shots, either believe like me or your evil. Sheesh! How can anyone live like that?

Your wife did over step her boundaries by going behind your back and calling the PO.

The day some religious organization tries to talk to me about a sexual private matter between two partners is the day I would say good bye. I will never understand where they get off thinking they have a right to question you or anyone on such a private matter. That should be left to the two partners or a marriage councelor.

I know you have a child involved in this marriage and that makes it difficult but at the same time, I feel raising a child in a cult is child abuse and maybe the child would be better off with one parent that is not involved.

Take a stand for your individual rights Jimmy Page, tell the PO its your household and you don't need some outsiders interferring. I'll bet they will back down, may DA you or DF you but thats what your really wanting anyway.

I still think you need to reverse the situation, get p***** everytime she brings up the WT, get p***** everytime she takes your child to KH or a DC. Make her be the one to feel uncomfortable around you. Make her be the one walking on eggs everytime she has a jw friend over, walk around being rude don't speak to them act like their taking up your comfort time in your own home. Just make life miserable for her when it comes to anything JW. It may be bad advise but heck, why are you the one always doing the giving.

I truely feel sorry for you and your child for having to deal with this cult, truely sorry! I have family in too and it just makes me crazy.
