My wife's mother started buying/selling this stuff a couple of years ago. It's supposed to be some sort of miracle powder.

Wheel of Fortune - Satan's latest ploy
by sir82 inat the recent circuit assembly..... on saturday afternoon, there was a symposium on behavior modification "conquering the evil with the good".. along with the usual idiotic groundless assertions about the "dangers" of university education, new technology, internet porn, etc., there was this new and rather startling revelation of a subtle satanic snare that all should watch out for..... game shows!.
yes, directly in the society's outline, there was a specific and clear-cut point on the "dangers" of watching game shows on tv!
watching them could (paraphrase) "get you to thinking about how much money or prizes the contestant was winning, and then you're thinking 'boy, i'd sure like to have that new car / boat / dinette set', and that leads to materialism.".

My wife is one of the hardcore JWs and even she paused and asked me about that statement.
Game shows? Really?
It's almost like there is a little man (or woman) inside her brain that is banging on a door, screaming at her that information from the platform isn't making any sense at all. But the rest of the brain is so consumed in the brainswashing that the little person is ignored.

I am not what you would call a heavy cell phone user. I probably use it once per day to check in with the wife about something and maybe call someone to make or break and appointment. I use less than 100 minutes per month, usually. But I do use it for other things, like keeping contact information, keeping time, and for "emergency purposes".
The first day and a half I felt naked and exposed. What if someone is trying to call me? What if I need to contact someone? Keep in mind that I have a land line in my home and a phone on my desk at work. These devices have existed for decades upon decades and subconsciously I forgot about them.
By the end of the second day, I was less anxious. I couldn't immediately contact my kids but they are in a school (that has phones!) so if there was an emergency, there is only one place they could be.
I use my cell phone also to store phone numbers and as my wake-up alarm. By the third day, I realized that I probably didn't need 80% of the numbers I had there and the few that I did I could probably memorize (use my brain? what?). I pulled an old, dusty digital alarm clock out of the closet and used it for the first time in five years. I also use my cell phone because I don't wear a watch. My wrists are small and I always break the bands because I pull them too tight. After a while I realized that except for getting up in the morning, the time doesn't really matter much.
On the fourth day, I stopped thinking about it completely. I didn't inadvertently reach for it as I had done for the first two or three days. I had to arrange things in advance in the morning since I could not text people on the fly. I told people when and where I would be and at what times. Any time that was outside of that range, I would be unreachable. Period.
I found my phone this morning. The battery is dead. I will not be able to charge it until tonight. I don't care what voice mail messages were left for me. I have no urgent need to text message anyone.

What's Your View of "Friends"? Are They "Real"???
by minimus inthe older i get, the more i see that most "friends" are not "real friends".
i can count on 1 hand who i consider friends.
i have many enjoyable aquaintances that i socialize with but i doubt they'd really be "there" for you.

A man told me this once. It was almost in passing but what he said was:
You will probably make lots of acquaintances during the course of your life, but of those you will probably only have two or three that will actually be friends.
I think it's probably too late for me. I am 38 years old and I haven't met the first one yet.

Did your wife pick that article out for you?
LOL she didn't find it. Someone emailed it to her and then she emailed it to me. Always listen to the WBTS because they are always right! Except when they are wrong. And even THEN they are right! er

ALERT FRON BETHEL (this may be it)
by Hiddenwindow ina prominent bethel elder shared this information with another elder: there are some bethel workers who have been invited to leave bethel, but are refusing to do so and are taking the society to court while still residing in brooklyn.
if this is true, this could be the reason behind the sale of brooklyn property.

For a long time I have secretly hoped that someone would have the stones to take the WBTS to the media.
In the past, it has been easy to diffuse things that have gone to the media because they can be attributed to the imperfect men (elders) in the local congregations (e.g., the abused kids).
But this would strike at the very heart of the Organization itself. Could the FDS make the rank-and-file believe that all of this is going on at Bethel without their knowing about it? If the plaintiffs won out, how would the WBTS keep congregations full of people from doubting the religion, especially after they have recently changed some of their most important doctrines (don't think that these changes have fully set in on anyone but the most blinded).
I know it's all speculation but it would bring me alot of happiness if it were true.

God or no God? I really don't know anymore.
by easyreader1970 ini am no longer sure where i stand on the whole supreme being(s) thing anymore.
but i feel like i need to find out where i stand before i move in any particular direction.
how could it exist if there was no universe?

I am no longer sure where I stand on the whole supreme being(s) thing anymore. But I feel like I need to find out where I stand before I move in any particular direction. Or maybe I don't?
The Old Testament
These books of the Bible make Yahweh out to be a jealous, vindictive bully with little to no self-esteem. I have a difficult time accepting that most of these scriptures were given to man through a deity. Without biblical scholars to do hours and hours and hours of research on each individual scripture, how could the common man (especially one that is not a Jew) ever hope to understand all of the figurative language and references? Surely Yahweh could not have expected that everyone throughout human history would have access to libraries of knowledge. Why was it not written more straight forward in terms of specifically what God expects? What fits more is that the Hebrew scriptures were written very carefully as a means to control a population. However, even if every single word of the Old Testament was completely made up by controlling priests or raving lunatics and that could be proven, it doesn't automatically prove that God or Yahweh doesn't exist. It just means that he/she/it/they didn't have a direct hand in writing those verses.
The New Testament
The Bible Part 2. Why was there so much time between the old and new testament. Did God not have anything new to say for four hundred years? Why is Paul ultimately more important in Christian theology than Jesus? Why aren't Jesus' commands of loving God and your neighbor enough? If they weren't enough, then why didn't Jesus say so? Why did Paul have to be the one to make the rules? Jesus' messages were pretty plain and simple to understand. No confusion there. Anybody could understand it who read it, even if they didn't understand everything about the history of the places and people in the Bible. Why is there a need for religion to enforce the beliefs in the Bible? Was it also written as a means to control people living at the time? Is it inspired or is the whole thing made up? If it is made up, does that automatically mean that Jesus (as a god or godlike human) doesn't exist or never existed?
Other Religions
Now I have never even read the Quran or religious texts of other religions. Mostly because I was raised as a "Christian" even before I was drafted into the WBTS pyramid.
Because of my upbringing, I am conditioned to believe in a supreme being that at least created if not controlls the universe we live in. Or maybe there are many gods as some religions teach?
Science
Evolution. This is the other "how we got here" explanation. It sounds much more plausible because there aren't any emotional godlike beings moving us around like chess pieces. Even so, there are still bits of evolution that do not make sense for me. The eye, for instance. The eye developing through evolution seems impossible for me to accept. I've read evolutionary theory on the development of the eye. It's full of maybes and possiblies and what-ifs. I know science is not all-knowing, but at this point in scientific understanding, the eye breaks evolution for me.
And then there is the "creation of the universe". To simplify, it comes down to this: Either everything came from something or everything came from nothing. Both of those explanations require a large amount of faith and neither make any sense to me.
Let's start with the Big Bang (everything came from nothing). Something had to exist in the universe in order for it to be big banged. What was it? Where did it come from? How long did it float around in nothingness? How did it float around if there was no time? How could it exist if there was no universe? What was there before the little something existed?
Then we have God, Allah, Yahweh, Jehovah, Jesus, Zeus, Jupiter, Aten, Amon, etc. (everything came from something). The exact same questions apply. Where did the deity come from? How long was it there or were they there before they decided that the universe would be a nice thing to create? What was it doing or what were they doing before the universe existed? Did something create them? Do they exist out of time and, if so, how is that even possible?
Both ideas require large leaps of faith and more brain power than I have to contemplate.
Where I am right now.
Religion is based on interpretation of religious texts. Everybody's interpretation is different and even individuals or groups change their own interpretations over time so nobody can be fully trusted. Religious texts may not even be divinely inspired but that does not mean God/gods/evolved aliens/whatever doesn't exist.
Should I just be satisfied that I can't know the unknowable (agnostic)? I can't profess to be atheist because I am not fully convinced that he/she/they don't exist. I can't be theist because I have too many doubts. I could be deist, but that serves no useful purpose except to explain some things that I cannot comprehend.
