OMG er, thanks for that. Made me chuckle and put everything back into perspective. It reminded me of why I chucked religion. Imagine if we treated our kids the way the Hebrew God treats His children. Somehow us imperfect humans can correct our children and forgive and forget very quickly. Jehovah is not a very good daddy to say the least.

Why JWs avoid sharing in toasts vs. wikipedia
by song19 inso i stubled on the following image on gbletters site.
you have to love how the watchtower uses circular reasoning quoting from older watchtower articles to reinforce their points.
i thought i would have a look myself to see what the toast signifies and its history this was very surprising.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses LOVE their enemies?
by Terry injesus' message differs from every other religious leader of his day in that he encouraged his followers to love their enemy.. are jw's encouraged to love their enemies?.
they aren't allowed to even pray for disfellowshipped former brethern although they are stray sheep.
you'll recall jesus said that a fine shepherd would even leave the 99 sheep to go after and return with the "stray".. how do jw's love their enemies?.

Do they show love for their friends??? The JW's have love and hate so mixed up that I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. They'll shun a former member because it's the loving thing to do - without even a full understanding of WHY they are shunning. They'll judge and question whether you are good association when you are IN the congregation. (I think they need to figure out how to show love for each other first, before they tackle the rest of the population.)
I can't see how any could claim to love their enemies. Mighty one, if an enemy is someone in direct opposition, then shouldn't JW's be praying for Satan to mend his ways?
JW's are supposed to hate the things in the world (everything material or real or not spiritually upbuilding) and keep separate from the world. I'd say hate is more on their minds, than love.

Hi Loubelle. I've always loved exercising but getting around to doing it is another thing. Lately, I've been getting up at 6 a.m. before anyone else in the house is awake and doing my stretches and walking with my dog for an hour. It's an awesome way to start the day. I supplement that with pilates or yoga a couple times a week. After I get in a little better shape, I'm thinking about taking a non-combative kickboxing class in the fall/winter. I'm sure if I tried to do an hour of kickboxing right now...well, my body would be screaming and I'd be huffing and puffing and it wouldn't be pretty.
It doesn't matter if your body takes a while to get whipped into shape, exercise still makes you feel great and gives you confidence, don't ya think? I've also noticed I actually crave healthier foods. That's a bonus.

From public talk - It would be wrong to watch movies that promote good vs. evil. An example would be a well-known movie that has "the dark side" in it.
Were the brothers just trying to be clever in not directly naming Star Wars or are they not supposed to? Hubby and I hated when they were specific and made decisions for us like that.
Hubby says that one speaker said that we shouldn't read the papers or watch the news. He's kicking himself for not walking out that morning!!

The WTB&TS best defense against apostates
by Gregor ini had 2 nice ladies come to the door this morning.
i played it very cool as long as i could, asking "dumb" questions like what ever happened to your 1914 generation teaching?
i knew it could only go so far and sure enough they began to smell a dirtyratcat.

The Witnesses really do try to avoid confrontation at all costs. If someone starts asking loads of questions, they're supposed to pick one subject and tell the householder that they'll come back and discuss it in length with them. You might have the rare pioneer that can actually find their way around the Bible, but the majority rely on memorizing the presentations that the WTS provides for the magazines, books and tracts. If the householder doesn't want to listen to their little memorized speech, then they move on to the next door. For those of you that have been out for a while, the scenario goes like this:
Greeting...repeat a couple sentences of memorized subject....ask question....read suggested scripture for the answer....pull out mags/brochure/book with related subject and offer. I might have a KM a few months old around here if you wanted to see an actual presentation. But this is how the witnesses are doing it and not many are being inventive and deviating from it.

How did you handle facing the reality of death?
by song19 infor those raised or who got the truth at a young age, how have you been able to handle the reality that you are in fact, eventually, going to die in this system?.
for me, this was a real hard reality check.
as a witness, my entire life i was convinced that i would see armageddon, that i wouldnt grow old and die.

I've spent the past 6 mos. sad with the thought that I'd never see my dad again. He died in '96 of cancer. It's like I'm grieving him all over again. I'm starting to get over it - though I'm sure I'll always think of dying from time to time.
The past few days I've had a much more positive outlook. I wake up smiling. I enjoy my kids more and don't stress over when they're being challenging. I spend more time enjoying life - the laundry and dishes can wait. It's really refreshing. (I'm hoping this keeps up! ) Death can't be avoided so concentrate of how to enjoy the gift of life that you have now. Get out of the house and start some new hobbies. I've visited with 3 different neighbors in the past 10 days and it's been so great. It's a slow process but I feel like I'm getting to know them for the first time though I've lived here for 9 years. I feel like the stress has left me for the first time in decades.
Your beliefs have changed so now you have to change your life. Life is what you make of it. If you are busy enjoying the NOW, then the future is more distant and not in your thoughts. If there's anything after this life, then that'll be a plus. Noone knows for sure. It's crushing to have all your beliefs dashed to pieces but it does get better. It just takes time.
