well - i today i had the opportunity to tell my wife i no longer believe in the things that i have spent my life immersed in and that i didn't want my life run by 9 geriatrics in brooklyn.. her reaction was understandable her first questions was "what have you been reading"?.
i didn't mention this site but told her i was shocked by something i heard regarding the wts's ngo status with the un, dissapointed by the new light on the generation and disturbed by the flip flopping on blood fractions.
i explained how these things were at best hypocritical and at worst have meant some people have lost their lives unnecessarily because of the societies previous position.
Very similar to the conversation I had with my wife. Even though she could not argue some of the same issues you brought up with yours, I now think she feels the need to be "strong in the truth". The positive for me is she has accepted having an "unbelieving mate".
Expect the next few months to be rough. But the inner peace of not living a lie or being controlled by a cult is such a relief.

don't you hate the hypocrisy when you run into a witness you haven't seen in over 5 years (even thought they live less than five miles away in the same town) and they say, "we miss you at the meetings?
" they can't call or stop bye to say hello, but they miss me at the meetings.
what crap.
It's all about the glass being half-full.
When I hear this, and I do often as my wife is still very active, I respond "cool!"
It renders them speechless and confirms that I have had a successful fade.

responsibilities in the org. I also can quote scri[pture to the point of winning any arguement ( although I am forgetting alot :))
i could not be a jw because of the following.
i am very weary of churches, org,etc that are so controlled, with little freedom of thought that any expression of difference and one could be on the way out.
also i feel the jw's have the wrong jehovah, wrong jesus, wrong holy spirit, wrong view of salvation, who goes to heaven, the lost, how the lost spend eternity, wrong view of israel, the 144,000, birthdays, etc.

Okay here is what happened...
Elder host called me into the other room, handed me a beer and said these are for the non-christians here, laughed and had one with me.
The other elders were almost too scared to talk to me. The kiss-ass m.s.'s wouldn't even look at me.
There was almost no "spiritual" talk but the condition of the economy surely must mean the end is near.
And as far as comparing it to other cults, I understand the comparison, however, my wife and kids are not members of other cults, just this one.
To sumarize, I survived this "get together". (I do love the fact I am forgetting JW lingo :))

I showed up for 10 min. and ran out for supplies. No real conversation. Three elders here so far.
They definitely are more uncomfortable than I am. This could be fun. I won't stir the pot too much.

you have to make a life changing choice.
you approach the choice one way and your spouse advocates a different approach.
the nature of the situation removes any possibility of a compromised arrangement.
Choose the course that will cause the least long term damage. If you can survive "giving in" and he can't, give in.
If "giving in" will be decision that you cannot live with and will haunt you for the rest of your life, don't wreck your life for anybody.
i believe i did in 1974, but i was just coming into the org and didn't realize the significance of the part he played.. it was a sunday at a stadium on the campus of the university of alabama in tuscaloosa.
all the "friends" were almost beside themselves with excitement, so looking back, it must have been f. w. franz!.
i'd worked until 6 pm that saturday night, had a one year old teething child, and had to arise at 3 am to get ready for the bus trip.. when we arrived, the weather had turned colder, the stadium was quite warm, and i fell asleep a few minutes into the talk.
