My aunt got me hooked on him about 20 years ago. I have every one of his books in paperback except for the short stories. I prefer the full stories.
I think the one set in Russia is 'Last of the Breed'. That and 'Haunted Mesa' are my favorites.
just getting into his books and i'm hooked.
he was a fantastic author.

"throughout our history, religious leaders and organizations have claimed that their holy books provide accurate prophecies about the end of the world.
the examples shown in this video are (relatively) fringe organizations, but despite their overt activism and cult-like behavior, organizations like familyradio.com provide a glimpse into what the more mainstream religions adhere to and believe.
pastors, priests, apologists, ministers, religious philosophers and leaders of every kind, from every generation, have quoted from the books of daniel and revelation about the end of days.
I stopped by mothers a couple weeks ago and she had to show me the ad/article she cut out about Armageddon and May 21, 2011. She thought it was real funny this guy Camping was claiming it was going to come on a certain date. I reminded her the WT did the same thing and mentioned 1914, 1925 and 1975. She mumbled something about new light and the fact that the WT was willing to change proved they were right.
I just shook my head and left.
i know i m a simple mind, but if 3 jws study with a jw-child or someone else for an hour, they ll all report there own time, which will add up to 3 hours, right?
but the real netto time spent for the study is obviously 1 hour, no matter how many jws took part.
am i seeing a mathimatical fault?.
I had noticed this also when my elderly aunt was having a 'study'. 2 or 3 people would come and stay a couple hours visiting, maybe read a few paragraphs and leave her some literature. Oh, yeah, and she would always give them some money. I suppose only one of them could count the 'study' but the others could count the time and probably a return visit. My aunt is now 90 and will never go to another KH or assembly because of her health. The only good thing is it was company for her to break up her boring day and the wits got to count all that time on one person that will never be a publisher again.
The same thing happened when my father was in the hospital just before he died. 3 ladies came to visit him. It was obvious they were in field circus. They drove about an hour each way to the hospital and stayed about 15 or 20 minutes. One lady left the WT and Awake! and told him he could give them to his nurse. I figured that was a good 6 or 7 hours of time counted plus 2 mags 'placed'. Then dad could have 'placed' the same mags again with his nurse - had they not disappeared shortly after the ladies left - oops, where did those things go?

I clearly remember when this happened here in Atlanta. Very disturbing case. Julie had even walked up someone's driveway to a house but when Hammond and his friends drove away she turned around and came back down to the street to try to get home. They circled back in the car and got her. We never understood why she didn't ring the doorbell and try to wake someone up. Probably didn't want to bother the homeowner.
They were talking about Hammond last weekend and the first of the week on the news about the fact he was going to be put down (finally). Good riddance. Too bad it took them so long. It makes me very angry to see the JWs have apparently embraced him. Calling him 'a faithful servant' just makes me sick to my stomach.
the food and drug administration has just approved a. vaccine that helps protect against anal cancer in men.
and women by targeting the human papillomavirus (hpv).. about 90 percent of anal cancers are believed to be.
caused by hpv, and the vaccination also helps prevent.
I recall hearing a few years ago some girls were having serious issues (including death) after taking the vaccine.
This CDC article mentions the issues but they don't seem to think it's a problem worth pulling the vaccine.
a few years ago many of the posters on jwd got together and submitted their faavorite holiday recipes which i edited and complied into a jwd holiday cookbook called food in due season.
the book was made available free for forum members .. well for anyone who could get it i guess lol.
it hasn't been available for a while and i know simon is very busy so i have put it up on sendspace for you.
Thank you so much for the download. Looks like some good recipes in it.

not in all of this anymore.
My mother is Sister Armageddon. When she came over for dinner on Thanksgiving, soon as she walked into the house we started talking about the weather and the strong cold front that was heading this way. She got all excited and said, "That's never happened before has it?" I just said "No, Armageddon is not coming."
Anytime any thing happens she thinks it means Armageddon is here. She's in her 80s and doesn't remember stuff from one day to the next but she never forgets Armageddon.
i attended the todays wt study and got notice of the illustration of jesus doing away capitol hill and barack obama.. i think the illustration passed the juridical advisors of the wts, having a blackout!
of are they trying to reach the anti government people like the tea party idiots with this kind of propaganda illustrations?.
is this a signal that the wts is anti democrats, anti obama?.
My first thought was boy, Jesus got old!! He has white hair now. Didn't think that was supposed to happen in heaven

I have just moved back to Georgia. I'm about an hour away from you also.
I was disappointed when I got back and checked the Meet Up groups and did not find any for the Atlanta area. Looks like there are quite a lot of people signed up as interested in one.
A few years ago I used to come up to Rome and ride my bicycle on the trails along the rivers and a couple times we rode the Berry campus too. Some beautiful scenery.

Anyone interested should read the manuscript by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons M.D. It's called, "Pounds and Inches". Don't even consider doing the diet until you have read his paper. Dr. Simeons explains clearly how it works.
And it really does work - even for men.
You are on a strict 500 calorie diet. The pregnancy hormone, HCG, causes your body to actually use 1500 to 2000 calories while you are only eating 500. You can't fudge on the foods or amounts you eat. It is very strict but it really works.
While you are encouraged to do some exercise it is not necessary for the HCG to work.
Here is one website that has a link to the manuscript - http://www.myhcgjourney.com/Pounds_&_Inches.html Unfortunately, it comes up on the screen sideways so you would need to print it out to read it. There is a book I bought called "HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide" by Linda Prinster. It is very good and has a copy of "Pounds & Inches" in the Appendix.
Don't buy HCG off the Internet. Get it from a doctor to make sure you get the real stuff.
Premarin (estrogen) is made of horse urine but I haven't heard anywhere that HCG is but I could be wrong. There is some discussion about it coming from pregnant humans but I don't know how it's made. I just know it works!!
