I'm leaving on a jet plane!
by purplesofa inin a few hours.. to a new life, a new adventure.. thanks to the board for helping me to get to the place i am now in life.. it feels great...it's taken alot of time, thinking, pain, overcoming fears, communication and a good dose of reality.. believe me, .
it's been worth all of it.. hope everyone has a great life.. purps.

Ban The Internet
by megs inthe thought occurred to me that if post-secondary education is to be avoided, why would the wts not make a similar stance about the internet?
all dubs in good standing should burn their books and their computers... really, the internet has great propensity to open people's minds and expose them to different ideas and viewpoints.
in itself it doesn't promote critical thinking, but it certainly offers fodder for thought and expression.

Yah there's the oportunity they've been waiting for , just start their own ISP service that has only one site , the WT.org . They really are overly paranoid about the web since you can walk past porn at the gas station and most people use cuss words in public and don't like the WTBTS anyway . The web is the best way to lure newbies in on their site because most people are clueless as to the history of the org. or teachings.

True tho I don't think that's the only place the word can be used , I'm looking at the quick referrence in the NWT and the word tribulation is used more liberally than what the WTBTS would attribute to it . Mathew 24:9 good example.

Why is it that witnesses believe that Jesus was resurected in spirit?
by freethinker2009 ini am new to this, i have never posted one of these sites before and have been in this org for about 21 years (brought up in it) i am almost 25 and have just started to really question the watchtower and its teachings and have uncovered some interesting things.
there is one thing that puzzles me though, why do jws need to believe so badly that jesus was raised in spirit and not in the flesh.
does it really matter?

I thought it was because when jesus said ,"father into your hands I entrust my spirit", that jesus was awaiting a spirit resurrection at time of death and then he raises his own body from the grave .

I agree that satan was thrown down to earth . They have allot tied into the belief such as the scarlet colored wild beast dogma which turns out to be satans organization of the League of nations that becomes the UN.

surprised they didn't throw in the four horsemen of the apocalypse dogma at the time of the old tribulation dogma , the Revelation book has it that the they have been riding since WW1 , war, famine,death , hades. Unbelievable they state that jehovah ended WW1 .

by aligot ripounsous ini heard this morning the "who will be saved (n 126) " public talk.
the speaker raised the point of age baptism and he confirmed what has been pointed out a couple of times on this board, namely that, according to a trend which seems to be fairly recent within the wts, people don't have to be adults to decide they want to become jws and get baptism.
the only two examples which the speaker selected were 2 children : manaseh who, at age 12, promoted idolatry, and king yoshia who restored jehovah's worship as soon as he came to power at age 8 !

anyway you look at it, the baptism ritual was meant for adults . John the baptist or the story of Jesus and his apostles both tell of mature people that realized they needed to repent in some way for their sins . Since the WTBTS doesn't include all members in the christian covenant you do have to look at what john the baptist was doing which would more or less be what the GC are considered, more along the lines of a foreign proselyte to the mosaic covenant and not spirit adopted sons of the christian covenant.

I believe , technically armageddon is the invisible spiritual war that takes place between the church of saints and the kings of the earth that oppose the kingdom and christianity and the saints are martyred but once the GC are in force they are saved before the beast can force a mark on them and they escape , the ones that never know death . Armageddon ends on the "great fear inspiring day of God almighty" and the destruction of all world powers or when the last saint is martyred .
