there are many cultural differences between the general population of the us and europe, what about jws?
i have heard about such things as beards being allowed, movies that a jw cant watch in the us or would be frowned upon watching being ok, same with tv shows, and even the way they dress in public.
seems more laid back over there if this is true.. any truth to this?
When I was in my 20s I spent some time in Europe with witness friends (who lived there...) on several occasions we all crashed in an apt guys and girls, very innocent...just a place to sleep. I remember being nervous like this was going to cause huge problems with elders meetings etc...but they brushed it off as no big deal, they did it all the time. A few of them were kids of Elders.
I noticed there weren't as many hang-ups with JWs in Europe, at least where I was.

Welcome Captain! Your description of what you are going through sounds like me....so many of us feeling the same things. Posting is Hard/Weird at first, but it gets easier and you'll find it to be very theraputic! Look forward to reading more of your experiences as a former elder. Take care bro!

This is a great place to post a 'vent' or a cry for help...although all we are able to do is throw out a cyber hug. You can be sure that the people behind these posts are caring people that have and will continue to feel lonliness and emotional issues from learning 'the truth about the truth' as you are feeling.

i'm a born in, baptized as a young teenager, whole family is jw.
i just recently woke up after the new understanding of the fds was announced and it seemed to me to smack of power-grabbing.
i started looking at all the websites we're not supposed to, and now i know why.
Real quick suggestion, gotta type fast wife is coming down soon..ahhh. I am in the same situation. Trying to tell my wife slowly and carefully that it's all BS. One thing I am working on is trying to slyly get her to watch 'Religulous' a documentary by Bill Mahr (not sure of spelling) a political comedian. Watching it not as a slam against JWs but how "crazy" the worlds religions are...hoping that will get her to think about her own religion. Some very good points are made....shows how goofy religion is. Would like to compose a better post but I'm typing fast....it's on Netflix

i was extremely excited.

I hope you find your cousin Jeremiah....I also hope that ID'ing him as your cousin doesn't 'out' him if he is still flying under the radar. If that concerns you maybe ask a Mod. to move this to the private section.
I can definitely understand the feeling of finding a post and realizing it's a family member too....it's happened to me on this board. Still haven't brought it to his attn yet though. Nervous on how to approach it.

you read the title correctly.. my daughter is a prosecutor who right this moment is prosecuting a dui crash with major injuries.
the defendant--the drunk driver--just tried to place an awake magazine with her while both of them were in the courtroom.. .
Thanks Justitia...great XJW success story for both of you. Can't believe how an elder could say that to your face....well I take that back, unfortunately I can believe it. Passive aggressive weaklings is a good description.
so i'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like.
but what i do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda.
remember the food tickets we started to use?
Still have fond memories (???) of hangin out with my teenage friends on DC mornings eating a muff-n-egg, slushy OJ and a cheese danish.
