Constructive feedback for AAWA leadership (IMHO)
by besty in1 - reconsider your existence - there might be a reason why the most effective resources to date have been solo efforts.
2 - recognize that even well-intentioned organizations will firstly seek self-preservation.
3 - be aware that egos and emotional stupidity have torn apart much grander edifices than aawa.

BARBARA ANDERSON - SHOCKING!!
by The Searcher ini don't know why, but it took me up until a few hours ago to read her story at http://www.watchtowerdocuments.com/ and it opened my eyes more than i'd have thought possible.
having researched the real truth over the past 3 years or so, i felt my disgust was complete, but i was wrong!
i used to think that bethelites had it made, being in amongst like-minded brothers and sisters every day, but it appears their little 'spiritual paradise' is just a facade.

GATED COMMUNITIES IN PUERTO RICO: ACCESS CODES and REMOTES must be provided to the WATCHTOWER CORPORATION by APRIL 23, 2013...
by Calebs Airplane inthis case is in it's 9th year an has been touched upon briefly on and off.. the latest from the federal court is that all gated communites in puerto rico have until april 23 to provide the watchtower corporation full access.... this means the entry code or remote control devices that open the front fence.. this is clearly an act of provocation in order to create "pseudo-persecution" thereby increasing fs hours and "voluntary donations"....

The magagers of each gated bldg/complex should notify all the residents that all they have to do is call the nearest KH and be put on the DNC list. Imagine the KH getting flooded with calls from all the residents that are now going to have to stand by for an annoying knock at the door at about 9:45 AM.

U.S. Chronic Pain Patients -- No More Pain Meds
by Lady Lee inthe american pain foundation has closed its doors due to lack of funding and a growing hostile environment towards those who suffer with chronic pain.. with deep regret and heavy hearts, we sadly inform you that due to irreparable economic circumstances, apf must cease to exist, effective immediately.
on may 3, 2012, the board of directors formally voted to dissolve the organization.. the board and staff have worked tirelessly over many months to address a significant gap between available financial resources and funds needed to remain operational.
unfortunately, the economic situation has not changed in any meaningful way, despite our best efforts.. apf hopes to be able to transfer content from various information, education, and support programs to other organizations so that you may continue to benefit from the value these programs have provided to thousands of individuals and families across the country.. your personal experiences in living with pain and seeking compassion, empathy and medical care often against the odds -- have driven our efforts over these many years.

Hi Lady Lee...First of all, thanks for posting the info. With all due respect, it seems like your 'Headline' is a bit misleading ie "NO MORE PAIN MEDS" It looks to me like the foundation closed last May...but I haven't heard of any new laws passed within the last week federally or in my state that totally restrict pain meds for chronic pain patients or make anything now illegal. I don know it's difficult, and laws are cracking down, and those with legitamite need face problems. But I also know a few that have a pain doc that don't really have any issue.
Maybe it's just me...I just think your headline is misleading and not truely the case. Please correct me if I am wrong with some more links.
Thanks.

Disfellowshipping question for X or Current Elders
by tresdecu ini know somebody who got disfellowshipped...they decided to appeal.
how long does the appeal process usually take?
do they ever get overturned?

Thanks very much everyone for your experiences and insight! The guy getting DFd is kind of a punk, ironically self righteous. I even heard recently that he said some things about my wife and I because our meeting attendance is spotty. I don't want to say why he's getting Dfd, but it might have something to do with something that rhymes with Corn. ;-) I am sure there is more to the story, and he must have some kind of angle to think he can appeal Jah's holy spirit. lol. I see from the majority of your comments that this probably won't happen.
Thanks again

I know somebody who got disfellowshipped...they decided to appeal. How long does the appeal process usually take? Do they ever get overturned? (I know this is subjective based on the case) I guess I'm am just looking at the possibility of the disfellowshipping being annuled by the appeal comitee.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Differences Between JWs in the US and Europe
by BU2B inthere are many cultural differences between the general population of the us and europe, what about jws?
i have heard about such things as beards being allowed, movies that a jw cant watch in the us or would be frowned upon watching being ok, same with tv shows, and even the way they dress in public.
seems more laid back over there if this is true.. any truth to this?

When I was in my 20s I spent some time in Europe with witness friends (who lived there...) on several occasions we all crashed in an apt guys and girls, very innocent...just a place to sleep. I remember being nervous like this was going to cause huge problems with elders meetings etc...but they brushed it off as no big deal, they did it all the time. A few of them were kids of Elders.
I noticed there weren't as many hang-ups with JWs in Europe, at least where I was.
