I had not been in service for about 10 years and had not been to a meeting in a couple of years. I had unscriptually divorced my Jdub husband, but still no one bothered to harass me. However, I did feel an obligation to my ex to let the elders know that he had scriptual grounds to remarry. I wrote the letter out of love for my ex, NOT because I felt a need to confess. I simply wrote a one line letter to the body of elders letting them know that "Mr. ______ ______ has grounds to remarry. " I figured I had been out long enough from the borg to not have me round up and hauled in. Boy, was I wrong! That body of elders were determined to have a JC with me. I could not understand why they kept setting up JC meetings. They would call to tell me when it was. Of course I never showed up. They even sent me 3 different certified letters (that I of course would not sign for) Did they need any more information than the one line letter I wrote them?

by flipper ini tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .
the first several years they didn't bother me.
i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

Avoiding the Meeting
by brotherdan inso, darth plaugeis (or however you spell it) has suggested that the best way to get out of going to the meeting is to tell your wife that it's time to get ready for the meeting, and when her back is turned hit her over the head with a large object.. i'm sure there are better ways to get out of going.
i'm looking for some real ideas here.
" i like the whole getting your wife (or husband) drunk before the meeting so they won't want to go idea.

How about telling her you need a couple of weeks off from the meetings? That you are feeling discouraged and the meetings (at this time) just make you more down. If it works, you have bought yourself a couple of weeks - enough time to come up with a new plan. I would just take a week or two at a time since your goal is to keep peace and keep the family intact. You may also offer to watch the baby at home so that she can get more out of the meetings.

Disfellowshipping an 80 year old man, with brain cancer, for swearing!
by James_Slash inthis happened many years ago in my old congregation.. the man, who held the position of a ministerial servant for many years had not long lost his wife in death.. obviously, tensions and the general heartbreak of what happened to him lasted for sometime.
i remember going to see him once and he was extremely depressed.. however, his son had recently moved back in with him and they had started arguing.
his son grassed on him in to the elders that his father had sworn at him in a number of arguments and he was removed as a ms. the rest is history.

There was a sister in my old all (mid eighties) who had been a solid, faithful witness her whole life. She never missed a meeting and was out in sevice practically every day;raised 4 children who all were solid witnesses. Two of her sons were very high up at Brooklyn. As she started to turn senile, she started drinking in excess. She was promptly disfellowshipped.

Reading over it is just plain depressing. Why do they keep referring to masturbation as self-abuse? Wikipedia redirected Self-Abuse to Self-destructive behaviour, ie. drug abuse and suicide. Also, the outline says this is a problem that is mental not physical. Really??????? Hmmmmmm...WBTS's wisdom is just limitless.

Sept.15th WT - WT Society uses Guilt & Fear to Avoid Friendship & Internet
by flipper inonce again my wife and i were sent the " witness only " wt version by our lurking jw friend that they study at wt study meetings.
and once again wt society is showing very controlling tendencies towards it's jw members.. do any of you remember the " old days " in the 1970's or early 1980's when witnesses used to have goody night after book study ?
or you would have a " potluck picnic " with about 30 to 40 people getting to know one another to draw close as friends outside the confines of the kingdom hall ?

My mother brought me the latest AWAKE on Lonliness. The society blames the internet for people being lonely. They said facebook, emailing (texting) etc. causes people to be lonlier than ever before (because there is no personal social interaction).
So the internet causes lonliness, yet if you join their religion one cannot expect any personal social intereaction (unless of course you are going door to door to door). Yes, they certainly have all the answers for everything.

Two sisters come a-callin!
by uncle al inlast month the spanish congregations were having their distric assembly and two sisters were in my neighborhood delivering an invitation to a neighbor.
the neighbor was not home but i was outside washing my car, so they come over because the older sister, in her 70's, knows me and wanted to say hello.
i took the opportunity to mention the fact that i haven't been to a meeting since 2006. she acted as if this was news to her.

Does anyone know if the outline "A Godly View of Sex and Marriage" is still a current Sunday talk? That outline was so uncomfortable to sit through. I must have heard it 50 times. Why does an elder need to tell his congregation about a females's cycle????? Not to mention all the other unmentionables in that outline.
