  onemore started a thread on the organization's year in review.... i thought it would be interesting to hear of individual's highlights of 2010. magwitch's 2010 review.

  i totally stopped drinking (which i started with gusto when my brother died in 2007)i learned i can live alone and be independent and happy (both physically and financially)

  Nice Dreams - I sent out my first Xmas cards too - it felt wonderful

  SD7 - The first year of leaving the Borg is always traumatic in so many ways. 2011 will be better!!

  or, do you think your life will be cut short by a worldwide apocalyptic event (put in motion by man or god)?.

  disclosure: i'm definitely not apocalyptic and i do not live in expectation of any worldwide event that will cut my life short.. .

  I was not very interested in joining FB until I heard the society was trying to limit it. I then was immediately interested and joined.

  Thanks GB - I have now connected with many old friends that I would not have foung if it had not been for your timely advice.

  Why has there never been a manual for wives of elders if the FDS cares so much for families

  there could be such chapters as.

  1 how to raise children in the "truth" without a husband.. 2 how to not feel hurt when your husband ignores you during the meetings and talks to everyone else.. 3 how to handle your husband rushing with anther elder off to be with some poor depressed sister or family night after night when you are depressed yourself.. 4 what to do with yourself when you husband has talks out and he is busy gabbing with the other elders and you are standing alone watching the sisters stare but never coming over to talk to you as you stand there stupidly.. 5 how to handle the rude phone calls of members of the hall demanding your husband come over right now!.

  6 how to explain to your children why their father is helping other families and has no time to spend with them.. 7 how to explain to your children that a quick build is more important than they are.. 8 how to explain to neighbors and coworkers why your husband is always busy with the congregation and can never help you around the house.. my husband and i were talking the other day and he brought up again that the wives of elders should consider the cost of marring an elder.. i never knew before we were married what it was truly like.

  A few more chapters for the book...

  • Why is my husband fixing the Smith's car when mine needs fixing?
  • Why is my husband giving money to the Peterson's, the WW fund, the circuit overseer and the contribution box when he desperately needs to get to the dentist?
  • Joanie has sinned again (Why my husband needs to spend 12 hours over the next 2 weekends with John and Warren figuring out which breast received the most fondling)
  • Why our vacation time is going to be used up going door to door the week the circuit overseer comes to town.
  • Dougie has also sinned again. How to not overhear about his masterbation and premature ejaculation problems.

  And of course the Bonus Chapter...

  • How to love, adore and respect the man that does not know you exist except when his stomach his hungry, the house needs cleaning for the CO's visit, and his sexual needs need tending to.

  i think this brief synopsis is worth thinking about, particularly on this forum, where emotions run high, opinions are hard-won and sometimes fought for with great intensity.. on the other hand: debate is essential to thinking ability and working through one's viewpoint, and eventually owning your opinion.
