  Are You Raising An Introvert?

  its not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.

  it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.

  this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

  I'm getting baptized

  i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

  my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

  i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

  Blackwolf, My heart aches for what you must be going through. It sounds like you want to "Play along to get along" which is a wonderful trait, unless of course it infringes on your rights. Please remember this ..... Whatever you do for these people, IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH! After baptism you will have another hurdle to jump through and it most likely will be to become an aux pioneer and then a regular pioneer. You will then need to marry the first eligible spiritual man available regardless of what his other traits are, and then Blackwolf, this is where the fun really begins. If you marry a truly "spiritual" man then you are in for a lifetime of misery. You will keep your head down, your mouth shut, have dinner waiting and look real pretty for every meeting. Door knocking, guilt, low self confidence, meetings, meetings, meetings and crappy one minute missionary sex are some of the things you can look forward to. You will never please JW's because it never is enough..... It all starts with baptism.

  Were you beaten as a child?

  i've been confronting my mother with her dubious parenting skills (abuse) of me as a child.

  particularly the beatings i would get with the wooden spoon.

  not a light smack but hitting me as hard as she could for as long as she could.

  i'm no expert in the music of prince so perhaps someone else can tell me, does the songs of the wt sound similar to princes work?.

  Being Positive around family that are still in.

  if you are a fader or you have reduced activity markedly - say resigned as a pioneer or an elder or ms or gone inactive and still have some relationship with your immediate family or spouse - how do you stay positive around them when you feel like shaking them out of their stupor but believe deep down it would be counter productive?.

  I'm very close with my parents who are in their mid 80's. My father still serves as an elder and my mother is right in the thick of things too. I have been DF'ed for ten years now. Here is what I have learned.......

  They will never accept anything unfavorable about JWism - NEVER. Why say anything? I tried in the beginning to educate them on the real Rutherford, the UN scandel etc. All I did was alienate them from me and hurt their feelings. I now let them go on about the twoof......endless stupid stories of the latest WT articles and who is working at Wallkill, how close the end is and how soon that resurrection is going to take place. It is painful for me to keep quiet, but have learned that it is a small price to pay for a peaceful, beautiful relationship with two gentle old people that have been fooled their whole life.

  i would like to possible talk with one of you all, it's just so helpful to communicate with someone in the same situation as me.. i am located in the southwest united states..

  I really believe that if you have young kids you need to do all you can to save them and that saving them is more important than saving the marriage

  I woke up shortly into my 20 year marriage. I went along to get along, but the more I woke up, the more self righteous, hypocritical and mind controlled he became. I probably would have gone along like this forever if it wasn't for having two daughters. Once the pressure was on them to become unbaptized publishers, the clock was ticking and it was only a matter of time before I had to break up my family for the sake of saving my girls from a cult that would have destroyed them. (FYI...They both have good university degrees and live very sweet lives today)

  Embellished assembly interviews/"experiences"

  oh how wonderful those experiences at assemblies and "schools" are - not.

  at times it seemed as if these "experiences" were scripted.

  the speaker gets criteria in the outline regarding what the experience or interview has to be about.

  I remember in my 8th grade class (about 1980) giving a oral speech about abortion; I read some story out of the Awake magazine. Afterwards a school mate asked me for the source of the article and I gave her the Awake. Fast forward a few months and for some crazy reason (the DO was dating my older sister), I am giving the experience on the circuit assembly. The DO changed the story to ..."I placed all the Awake magazines I had with me with my very interested classmates"
