How many times did we have to go through that book in the 70's? Every damn Tuesday night, sitting on a cold folding chair in a pretty little cotton dress in someones's smelly basement. I just wanted to be home watching TV, doing home work or playing with dolls, but no that book meant our very LIVES. -

I made it all the way to 50 minutes last night. I then had to do a proper cleanse by putting on my old stand by movie "Religulous"
A lot of similarities between Lett and Ken Ham

The poor and deprived life of JW children.
by Esse quam videri ini find it hard to believe that adults on this forum make such a big deal about not celebrating birthdays, x-mas, easter, halloween, etc, etc, etc.
i grew up as a jw kid and it actually made me feel good, being different from the other kids in school.
we went to meetings.

watched Hockey Night in Canada with my Dad on Saturday nights
We obviously had extremely different upbringings. Watching Hockey would never, ever have been allowed in my JW home growing up. Very violent and very worldy. In fact, if we had the nerve to suggest watching something like this, we would have had a Saturday night family study on why Jehovah hates violence.
I had a happy childhood with lots of love, however going to a high school football game on Friday night would have meant the world to me. I probably would not have taken all my clothes off and spread my legs for the entire football team, but the society had to error on the side of caution now, didn't they?

just wondering, how many wives of elders had influence?
by sowhatnow inid wonder how many wives of servants had the upper hand so to speak, on issues, that of course, were supposed to be private, yet gee lets be honest, husbands and wives talk.
its nature.
so if you were a wife of a servant how much did you get involved?

My husband was an elder for the 20 years we were married. He told me ZERO!!!! Less than zero. Even things that were not confidential, he would always make sure that I heard them elsewhere.
If he could have had me take a vow of silence and wear a hijab he would have. I was after all a woman.

I am a sucker for all the homeless beggars in my town. I even carry baggies of dog food in my trunk for the ones with dogs. Will never give another $ to a religious group of any sort. That ship sailed....... -

In the late 60s and 70s we had to drive quite a ways to get to our KH up in Northern WI. After the Thursday night meetings, in the summer, my dear father would always stop at A & W Root Beer. This was such a HUGE treat for us five kids and a very happy memory. -
