I am also from the Detroit area.
Hmmm,
Maybe we have met somewhere before??
My mother moved us around quite a bit. My extended family, also living in the area, each attended their local kingdom hall which I would attend if I was staying with them when I was young.
I have been to the following kingdom halls though Im not sure if they still exist. I heard one had been sold and relocated.
Plymouth, Westland, Garden City and Livionia.
Also attended many assemblies in Holt and of course the Pontiac Silverdome.
Im am in a different area in Michigan right now and have attended the local hall which I feel I shouldnt add to the list.
You know, big secret and all.....

Which religeon is correct ?
by musky incan anyone name a religeon that is the correct one?.
my personal criteria would be: shouldnt celebrate holidays/ only study the bible, not publications with someones personal ideas/ people won't worry about dressing in exactly a particular manner, welcoming others personal thoughts on the interpretation of scripture even if it differs from others/ not demand money for membership.. any religeons like this?

I dont believe that God cares what "religion" we are or are born into. I do believe that he does care how we treat others.
Bang,
You are so right. -

Wife makes a funny
by DB inon the way to dropping my wife off at work this morning, we stopped at an intersection near a funeral home which is constructed very similarly to many kingdom halls.
the following conversation took place:.
me: "that funeral home always reminds me of a kingdom hall.".

Kingdom halls do resemble funeral homes.
Basic single story ranch style buildings. Usually with very few or no windows.
Ironic,
The (Kingdom hall) is where the J.W.s brainwashed my grandfather into believing that bogus J.W. blood doctrine which lead him to rest in his coffin which was, for a moment, in a (funeral home).
There is a huge connection.Deepinthought,
If you were in front of me right now, I would pound you over the head with the bible you seem to know nothing about.
Maybe then something would sink (deep in).
(Deepinthought)??? Yea right.....
More like,

A really, really weird question......
by VioletAnai inok, don't think i'm nuts, but i have a rather personal question to ask you.
it's just that i saw a kid do this and i've never seen it in my life, and then a friend told me it happens to her too...every time.... ok, so the question is:.
do you shed tears and get a runny nose when doing number two?.

Uhhhhh,,,,
I can say I've never experienced those symptoms during those moments. Not that I venture into the bathroom when others are doing their buisness but I have children and I cant say Ive ever seen any noses running or eyes watering.
Have they tried stool softeners?

Religion is made by man and cannot be flawless.
I believe through personal prayer and reading the bible, I have grown closer to God and become spiritually strong.
Everyone has to do what is right for them.
I know in my heart what is right for me. -

I have seen it!
It beats Rosanne hands down!
The funny thing is, its his actual life!
Well, as actual as it gets on t.v.
As crude as it is, Im sure they have to edit out allot.
I would have never imagined when I was in school that "Ozzy" would ever be a middle aged family man.
But then again, if I would have imagined it, its probably exactly what I would have envisioned. -

hello
by maxwell ini'm a jehovah's witness who's doubts about god have been kinda forced to front by some adulterous acts on my part.
i don't really feel the the jw's are dangerous presently, at least not any more than any other religion.
i do feel the urge to free myself from it and my marriage within the week.

Hello!
I also admire you confessing so your wife can have "scriptural freedom", if the W.T.S still enforces that. My father just kind of faded away. With no proof of adultry on his part, if my mother was to remarry, she would have been disfellowshipped.
She spent many years searching, hiring a private detective etc.
We found out that he had met another woman and they had a child together. He was with her the entire time.
I believe the W.T.S caused more misery to my mother by their bogus "scriptural freedom doctrine" than my father did by leaving her. Of course she will probably never see it that way.I hope things go as smoothly as possible for you and your wife, whatever you decide. You seem to still care for her. Have you really talked with her about this? You never know, maybe she is having doubts of her own.
Your Bio. is excellent.
I wish more people would enter a biography. Its nice to learn a little about someone upfront. -

Good fruits from this forum
by Yadira Angelini infew weeks ago, i invited my jws daughter for a formal dinner.
i asked her to bring her closest jws friends, including an elder from her kh.. i let her know that i didn't have any hidden agenda on my part.. that i just wanted to have a good time with her and that i wanted to honor her friends.. she asked me how many she could invite; i said no more than six.. she invited three.
like i said, including an elder.. my husband cooked a delicious meal for them... but just two days before the event, i started to get 'cold feet'.

Oh my,
Someone does have issues, dont they.
The word "Mother" has always been used to describe religious organizations. Many churches claim to be the "Mother church". Many churches claim that Mary is "Mother of God".
"Mother Scratcher Peanut Butter"!!!!
Sorry, me and my sister have used that phrase since we were kids and I just couldnt resist.
The phrase "Sister" is also used in most religious organizations, nuns are addressed as "Sisters". Not to mention how many times "Father" is used to address priests etc.
I am aware that "Anewperson" is quite passionate on her stand against the W.T.S. I feel the same way but I think we all need be careful about judging others and jumping to conclusions. This can make someone appear paranoid or delusional.
Actually where I come from, we call our good friends "Sister or Brother".
Good grief!
If we followed those guidelines we wouldnt be able to address people in our own family as Mother, Father, Sister or Brother.
Oh, Whats this world comming to?!
