Watchtower 2005 makes candidates for resurrection clear -- or does it?
by Fatfreek inin the following questions from readers section, which i quote in its entirety, i call your attention to two paragraphs.
although not the subject of the question, the first paragraph of interest addresses, again, the destiny of those ancient sodomites.
"i see what you're saying but i'll wait on jehovah.

Jehovah will be so busy on Judgment Day throwing all the disfellowshipped JWs into the lake of fire that he may forget the Sodomites altogether:
Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet. Truly I say to you, it will be more endurable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that city. — Matthew 10:14-15
New Light! The lake of fire has a shallow and a deep end! If you get tossed into the shallow end, you can wade ashore and not be destroyed.
On a more serious note, the above citation from Matthew suggests some from Sodom and Gomorrah will survive Judgment Day. How else could they endure it?

""2.1 you are only eligible to register and become an authorised user to use this website and request services provided by iapso for the purposes of assisting the un system, governments receiving aid, organizations co-operating with the un system such as donor government aid organizations and non-governmental organizations (ngos), as well as internationally recruited un staff members and experts with tax-free import privileges.

If you get a reply, it will likely be they can't give you any information as it is confidential. http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf says in part
"Please be informed that it is the policy of the Department of Public Information of the United Nations to keep correspondence between the United Nations and NGOs associated with DPI confidential."
I would expect the policy is the same with the IAPSO.
It is awesome how well people track the Society's involvement with the U.N. You don't miss anything. Fabulous job.

For photos of Russell's tombstone and the nearby pyramid, go to http://www.dannyhaszard.com/pyramids/cemetery.htm . That page also has links to video clips if you want to take a visual tour of the burial grounds.

JW's & JW sympathisers please help! Bed bugs!
by Mr Ben ini would like to know how jw's reconcile their world view with the fact that there exists creatures that live solely on blood.
bed bugs are in the news at the moment so they serve as a good example.
bed bugs live solely on the blood of animals.. ok, please explain to me how you reconcile the belief of creation by jehovah with the existence of bed bugs?.

Ps 45
by confused and lost inaccording to the revelation book on its comments regarding ps 45,the virgin companions of the bride represent the great crowd.yet as ps 45 v 15 clearly shows they enter into the palace of the king with the bride.to my way of thinking this would indicate that the great crowd enter heaven also.however the rev book says on page 276 par 14 "the prophetic account in psalm 45 describes the order of events.
first the enthroned king rides forth to the conquest of his enemies.
(verses 1-7) then the marriage is performed, the heavenly bride being attended on earth by her virgin companions, the great crowd.

Bed bugs eat small fractions of the blood, so it is permitted. It is up to each bug's individual conscience whether he can partake.
Leeches on the other hand eat large amounts of blood. They slither. They are clearly the work of the serpent, Satan.
JWs cannot allow a leech to feed on their own blood. (The Watchtower , June 15, 1982, p. 31)

Have you read "Signs of the last days?" by Carl O Jonsson?
by Awakened at Gilead inafter seeing h4o's thread today (about hassans book), i decided to open up this one.
i have only been out of the org since 3-29-08 so i have a lot of reading this past month and a half.... i'm halfway through reading the "signs of the last days" book.
in some ways it has impacted me more than some of the others i have read.. as i read cofc, for example, i could see that the inner workings of the gb showed that there were not spirit guided but very misguided.... as i read isofcf i could see logical biblical arguments that refuted jw syances on blood, holidays, jesus, etc.... i read the gentile times reconsidered, and was very impressed with the logic about 587 bce.

There is no "they" who wrote those unTruths, who filtered out what was unpleasant and passed on only what was acceptable when quoting others. It was an individual. A different individual at different times. But you won't know which individual because of the anonymous attribution culture in Watchtower writings. Had each author known his/her name would be published along with his/her writing, you can be sure there would have been much less duplicity in the writing. Without personal responsibility, the truth went right out the window in what the Society wrote and now writes.

What's Your MAIN Reason For Not Believing In "The Truth"?
by minimus inmy mother had this discussion yesterday.
basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??
you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.

The parable of the man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, which is a parable about the afterlife. The Watchtower claims this is not a vision of an afterlife. It is a symbolic parable of a change in circumstance for the Pharisees and the common Jew. The Pharisees who were formerly favored by God are no longer so with the coming of Christ. Wrong! The Pharisees Christ rails against were never in God's favor. Lazarus is put at the rich man's gate and he does nothing to help Lazarus in vivid contrast to the parable of the Good Samaritan where the Samaritan does help his neighbor. If this parable were merely symbolic, the power of the final verse of Chapter 16 which contains a direct reference to Christ is lost. Christ literally died. The rich man died and he was buried. Christ would not use a parable about an afterlife is there was no afterlife. The parable is a warning of what lies ahead for those who do not love their neighbor.
I am not a JW, but I have had a JW giving me bible lessons for the past year and a half. At our last and final meeting, I asked if the JW's ran a formal charity I could donate to to help the disaster victims in Mayanmar. He said the Watchtower is the charity, they have no separate organization for charity work. An enterprise which has around 20 various separate legal entities (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_instruments_of_Jehovah%27s_Witnesses ) has not a single one devoted to helping the Lazarus' of the world.

How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today
by slimboyfat ini made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.
i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.
well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

There is an audio edition of the new generation study available at http://www.jw.org/index.html?option=QrYQZRQVNZNT . The link to this specific article, entitled "Christ’s Presence—What Does It Mean to You?" is http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/w_E_20080215_06.mp3 . I'm not a JW and didn't attend the local congregation's meeting so I can't comment on how it went down.
I'm trying to find downloadable pdfs of WatchTowers. All WatchTowers up through 1949 are available online from http://tjliberte.free.fr/Library/Watchtower_Publications/Watchtowers/ . Does anybody have a link to the newer issues?
