JWs lie with such decadence
by 83501nwahs ini was just at roscoe's in long beach when the assembly crowd with their badges on came in.
i decided that they must want to be approached since they were advertizing their witnesshood on their clothing.
nothing could be further from the truth.

I was just at Roscoe's in Long Beach when the assembly crowd with their badges on came in. I decided that they must want to be approached since they were advertizing their witnesshood on their clothing. Nothing could be further from the truth. I engaged them in conversation just to see if they would lie to me believing I didn't know better. I told them I was a Gay Wiccan (which is half true, I'll let you guess which half) and I wondered if god would kill me at armaggeddon if I refused to change. They flatly denied that I would be killed at the hand of god at armaggeddon. They kept repeating over and over that only god can read hearts.
So, I posed it this way, "If I make it through armageddon into the paradise and utterly refuse to stop practicing Wicca and I continue to have gay sex, will god at some point have to kill me, and this is long after armageddon in the paradise, and I just refuse to stop having gay sex. Will god at some point get tired of me being a gay Wiccan and kill me?"
The answer.... (drum roll)...
At this point I revealed to them that I was a Witness for 30 years and I knew they were lying. Then the husband got up and complained that I was bothering them, so I had to leave. On the way out I called them liars, and, I kid you not, one of the sisters just looked at me and shrugged, like it was nothing for her to lie when preaching.
I realize that when I was a witness I lied in the ministry all the time. I would say whatever made the society look good no matter how false and misleading. Did anyone else here lie as a witness? or is that a dumb question? -

my inactive family hates that I researched why the jws are wrong
by sosad inthey don't want to hear it, they think i am being hurtful having so many books about cults, jws in particular etc etc.
i never talk about it but they saw my bookshelves in my office during a recent visit and are besides themselves.
they want to know where the anit catholic literature is - (my husband and kids are catholic, i am not).

Quite typical actually. DF'd ones and guilt ridden inactive ones are often the fiercest and staunchest JW apologists. The same is true of many ex-cult members who have never been properly exited.

Why I will NEVER be an elder again
by stillajwexelder inso the po confirmed what many on this board already know.
at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

I'd be interested to see the letter that states that policy.

Why do you put up with crap off your JW famlies?
by dawg ini see where many of you have jw family members that give you a ration of crap once in a while; i've heard many rationalizations as to why some of you refuse to speak out.
as many of you know, i wrote a series of letters and exposed my apostasy formerly; in the letters i told my family they had better beware of shunning me of treating me like a pile when they run into me, i realized that i couldn't make them accept me into their houses, but in public was a different matter.
i basically told them that in public, especially at funerals, that i would rain down a load of crap on any family member that shunned me or treated me badly in anyway.

I am right there with you dawg. Incidentally, I wish you would go visit my parents and brothers and sisters in GA. Maybe you could ask them for a study or something. What part of GA are you in? I have family all over the state.

Does anyone else have a problem with conformity?
by milligal inrecently my husband and i moved south to an area known as the 'bible belt' for his job.
we are northerners and from a liberal area.
i just cannot seem to tolerate the amount of 'shut-up and put-up' around here.

I'm going to shake it up no matter where I am. I am philosophically opposed to conservative thinking so if I lived in the south I would be in your face 27/7. I'm here to be heard, not to coddle old world thinking or "comfort zone" people. I don't respect comfort zone dwellers. They're the ones who keep clinging to the old ways and refuse to evolve.
Fortunately I live in CA. I do have a hard time conforming to any norm. In fact I would say I am hyper sensitive to anyone trying to tell me what to do. As for taboos, I am here to destroy them. That is why I am for gay marriage, legalizing marijuana (incidentally, thank you Humbolt County for years of botanical support) and against a slew of other mindless dark ages laws. -

For all you PETROL & GAS whiners. Stop complaining that it's too expensive!
by nicolaou inhere in the uk we're paying over a 1 a litre for regular unleaded fuel, that's about $9 per gallon for my american friends.
now i'm as aware as anyone that the bulk of my fuel pound goes to the government in duty (or fuel tax) but let's just look at the bottom line cost to you and i as motorists - 1/litre.. just getting the the damn stuff out of the ground is dangerous and expensive, especially at offshore rigs.
then you have to transport it, refine it and transport it again.

Only behind the curve people are still buying gas anyway. I've been running vegetable oil in my small truck for a year, much of the time for free thanks to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Even if I buy the oil at Cosco I'm paying about the same price as diesel is right now. If I can do it anybody can do it. You just have to want to do it.
