  Do you consider yourself to be quiet or outgoing?

  something someone said on one of the popularity topics got me to wondering who on the board is quiet and who are the outgoing ones in real life.

  i'm a quiet person in real life, takes me a while to warm up to folks that i just meet, but if i really like a person my rarely used gift of gab comes out.. how about ya'll?.

  Natural Introvert... I am very reserved and can still be even around people that I have know for years.

  The last time I took the full Myers-Briggs almost 12 years ago and I believe I was INTJ.

  But I find extraverts facsinating; mostly because I don't understand where all the energy comes from. Things such as being the life of the party or the center of attention, I find exhausting and somewhat aggravating. I have to force myself to stay in certain social situations. But when I observe individuals that are social butterflies or can hop from one cubicle to the next, socializing with everyone, I just find it amazing.

  BTW - Great advice Terry, extroversion has its perks. Part of the problem I have is actually being interested in other people. A bit self-centered, I am.

  How many have left your congregation ?

  hi everyone ,.

  there are many new folk joining here everyday , and i thought it may be interesting and fun to just see how many people have left the congregation that you have attended in the past 5 years .

  i dont mean of course people who are active jw's moving to another cong , but people that have left the wt religion , faded , da'd or df'd .. so , i will start off with my own cong .there have been 9 leave , 8 completely gone , myself hardly ever there and ' inactive ' .. leo999.

  Generation & "Even when you don't understand/feel uncomfortable with it..."

  i had been getting my hope up that this new generation teaching wouldn't make sense and cause my jw friends and family to wake up.i even asked my mom to explain the new generation teaching, but she didn't even know what i meant!

  slept through that meetin'?

  anyway, i had to tell her the march 15 wt, (which i studied thanks to the comments provided here on this wonderful board!

  So here it is, the horrifying realization that I came to: The "accept it even if you don't understand it, are uncomfortable with it" that the WT has been pushing will be used to deal with her inability to understand it. Rather than an exericse in "studying" and "understanding" it will become an exercise in loyalty to whatever the F&DS says

  I think the scary question is just how far will a JW go to prove their loyalty even when they have to accept things don't understand. I guarantee you most witnesses can't explain that bullsh-- blood fraction policy.

  Would any of you DESTROY ones faith and life as a JW if they were your dying grandparents?

  this is a serious question, trying to decide the right thing to do.........i do believe in god, i am sorting out what i believe and true from lie and such.

  have question on how atheist and just ones belief in god would respond to this.. .

  if you have a grandparent, (or even some relative) who spent their entire life as a jw.

  it's been a while since i've posted because i've been so busy looking for a full-time job so that i could leave my husband.

  well, i've finally got one today.

  actually, it's the same job i've had for about a year but someone else just put in their notice to quit so my manager finally gave me full-time status.

  Congrats on your new job and newly found freedom!

  I know all too well that 'surreal' feeling you're describing. I've had it so many times in the past couple of years, normally when I'm doing something with other people, like after work, social events, etc... All of a sudden I'll just get this 'wow' feeling, like 'I'm really doing this, I'm really living MY LIFE, the one I WANTED'. And I don't have to hide who I am or put up barriers. That feeling is priceless!!

  i am a third generation of jehovah witnesses, even if i never got baptized.

  however, they disfellowship me when i was around 15. this was around 1987. even if i have not been in the "truth" for so many years it has affected all my life in many ways not only negative.

  a couple of years ago i thought the events in the world maybe proved to me that they were right after all.

  Thanks so much for your thoughtful post and yes I do believe that more than anything, being able to fellowship and read experiences from other "survivors" helps tremendously. Your post is part of this helping process, even for those of us who have been around here for a while.

  There is so much proof I have collected, but I can't present it here. I just wanted to let you know if it will comfort someone that you are not deemed [doomed] by god because of judgement from the Jehovahs Witnesses they can't have that authority.

  Excellent point - I'm trying to help a DF'd family member understand that she is not under the authority of men. But as you know, young ones and born-ins are brainwashed to a point of thinking they deserve to be shunned by friends and family, and they believe they are not worthy of unconditional love and acceptance.

  was adolf hitler really a "genius" or was he in the right place, at the right time?.

  i think he was evil (obviously), but at the same time, he was a great speaker and was able to "trick" the minds of the german people pre-wwii and during the second world war.. i would like to hear your thoughts.... ciao,.

  No genius necessary - he simply fit the profile of a charismatic leader and the timing was right; anytime there is widespread economic downturn and massive poverty (ie Germany 1920's - 30's), people will look for a scapegoat. Right time and place.

  I think the message "Facebook = evil" is starting to take hold among the dubs. Last week, my uncle and brother, both avid facebook users deleted their accounts.

  What's ironic is more businesses, stores, local organizations, government agencies, and other resources are launching fb pages to get their info out there and fb is becoming more mainstream everyday. It's a sad joke the way a cult can control ppls everyday lives.

  Assuming Satan exists, and assuming that he is interested in "our weaknesses", isn't it kind of lame to think that he would rely exclusively on Facebook to find out that sort of information?

  Why Jehovah's Witnesses Are Discouraged From Using the Internet

  at a recent series of circuit assemblies, the governing body put out warnings on what in their view is the latest danger from satan, designed to break the faith of jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. facebook.. yes, thats right, apparantly, the gb is concerned because a lot of people are having "facebook sex".

  they are meeting old friends who aren't jehovah's witnesses and getting it on with whomever would willingly sleep with them.

  evidentally, the gb would like their flock to believe that when jw's get on facebook and other social networking sites, fornication happens.. now, this is news.

  Excellent post! This was my first thought when the GB invented the idea of rampant Facebook sex. Having been on there for a while, I knew this was a smokescreen to scare their members from joining. Most witnesses see Facebook as one of the "okay" safe internet sites and the GB has become aware of this. They know darn well the vast majority of people that join FB aren't doing it to hook up or have sex. It's just way too much information out there that they can't control, and they know it.

  i am so thrilled to find this forum.

  it is such a relief to know that all of us 'apostates' are normal people who had the nerve to question what has been crammed down our throats.. i am 4th generation ex-jw with family members at bethel, doing missionary work, and pioneering.

  even though i have been out for almost 20+ years, i still had guilt admitting to myself that this was a cult-like organization until just recently.
