it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.

hi all.
in your opinion, what was the silliest , most laughable watchtower teaching/doctrine, since its beginning until now???.
chukyy.
OMG This thread is hilarious...
A good t-shirt slogan:
"The Watchtower Society: none of the inspiration, all of the authority"
I'm buying this shirt !!
might take me a few tries to get this right but here are some pics of me and the kids.
:d i'll add more over time, i have tons (obviously, with six kids...lol).. .
Very nice pics and Welcome. I grew up in a big family and your children are blessed to have each other. Take care and see you around JWD.
after finishing "combatting cult mind control" i decided to move on to the next logical book.
i've read the first 100 pages of "crisis of conscience" and it's gone by really fast.
now i know why this book is so important.
I'm 3/4 of the way through it and this is the best thing that any jw, fader, or ex-jw can read. I cannot state how insightful this book is and how everyone really needs to understand what goes on behind closed doors and reexamine whether you are serving God or an organization. I just got to the part about the doctrine of Christ not being everyones mediator and am still in shock. His book really touches my heart because it really relies heavily on the scriptures to explain why what jw's practice and teach is NOT scripturally based.
Next I'll read In Search of Christian Freedom or the book about cult mind control since so many recommend this also.
had to reply to your post as this is the most important false teaching the WT has (in my book). When I first started on my 'search' I just couldn't believe what I read in the society's mags about Jesus not being my mediator.
After much reading (mainly Paul's letters in NT) I knew something was very wrong. From this teaching it is so easy to see how the teaching of the separation of the 144000 and the other sheep is also a false teaching. Jesus is the mediator for all christians (one sheepfold..christian Jews/christian gentiles ) "Jesus Christ, who died -more than that, who is raised to life- is at the right hand of God and is interceding for us." - Rom 8:34
I was so upset when I realised how I had believed such wrong teaching I was physically ill. The quotes other posters have used are excellent so I don't have to add more.
It still makes me feel very angry.
Suffice to say this is a most important turning point...it leads to a complete turn-around in understanding doctrine.
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ" Eph.4:15
Perhaps you might like to do what I did...just read Romans..get another Bible translation then read Paul's letters and I think you will find everything starts to make sense, it's like a jigsaw puzzle. Pray for a right understanding. I didn't talk to anybody, just read. It took 6 months to start coming up out of the gloom.
This topic is old, but I felt compelled to post as this is so very new and painful for me. Your post surmises my EXACT feelings about this, from feeling physically ill ( I've even been crying) to reading Romans ( I'm reading it right now in a different Bible translation). I am still in shock and cannot fully express by anger at the WTS for HIDING this crockpot doctrine from so many members.

i recently was turned on to southern comfort and sprite and really like it, but would prefer something without soda in it.

do the jw's still consider stevie nicks from fleetwood mac to be a pagan witch-type?
i picked out the song "landslide" for my mother's funeral about a month ago, which most of my extended family, jw's one and all, attended.
it didn't even cross my mind when i selected the song, my mom just had always liked it.
I remember a long time ago that my mom told me that Stevie practices witchcraft. She had this really popular song that I liked ( don't remember the name). Never was allowed to watch it because of the witch rumor.
what to do with all this newly found freedom and time, yes time!
for recently exited folks, faders or anyone, what do you do with this all this free time you now have on your hands?
now that you're not doing the meeting shuffle, scrambling to get in more fs hours, or just absorbed in some other treadmill of activity, how do you spend your free time?

Now that you're not doing the meeting shuffle, scrambling to get in more fs hours, or just absorbed in some other treadmill of activity, how do you spend your free time? What hobbies or interests do you have? I have so much time ( LOL ) that I made a list of the a few of the things I can now enjoy:
1. Spend more quality time with my hubby (non-jw) and my kids, instead of going to meetings to make my kids sit still and not talk for 1, 2 or even 4 hour stretches.
2. Read a different Bible translation and focus on my own personal spirituality, without needing some organization's approval of my relationship with God
3. Took a pottery class
4. Paint my toenails
5. Read and post on JWD
6. Exercise regularly
7. Learn a different language ( and not for the sake of trying to translate some tract to one of my neighbors)
8. Catching up on some R & R...
What about you? What do you do with your free time?
Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.Carl Sandburg (1878 - 1967)
