i'm new to this forum and look forward to getting to know you guys.. just a short summary about me, i was raised a jw, baptized at 15, married at 25, moved a few states away, started fading away about a year and a half ago.
started doing some searching about some long-standing doubts and completely sure now that this isnt the truth.
being out is still new and very difficult, but i'm making strides every day.. as i said, i look forward to getting to know you all..

I can empathize with so many of your points also, things just weren't adding up and once I did my own research and became conviced it was not the truth, the first thing I refused to do was drag my kids to the hall. I figure at least the next generation of my family will not suffer thru this cult.

one of my wife and my lurking jw friends sent us this article which has some very pointed words in it inciting all jehovah's witnesses to take an even harder line view of apostates in this recent april 15th wt.. on pg.
Why do they never elaborate as to what "apostates" disagree with?
"Truth" should be able to stand up to anything thrown up against it.
Rather than display genuine humility and discuss the issues, the hierarchy resembles the Pharisees in arrogantly directing its membership to "avoid all contact with them!"
Are they really following Jesus?
"YOU heard that it was said, You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy. However, I say to YOU: Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU; that YOU may prove yourselves sons of YOUR Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous. For if YOU love those loving YOU, what reward do YOU have? Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing? And if YOU greet YOUR brothers only, what extraordinary thing are YOU doing? well where do i start, perhaps will go into more detail later, though briefly - 40 years young, raised in the truth (kingdom baby, which meant i was never going to make it to primary/secondary school/work/get married/have kids....) former ms, regular pioneer, learnt 3 foreign languages, served in foreign language group, married (wife still goes to meetings), beautiful kids, baptised at 15 years of age, regular pioneer at 15, grew up in divided house.. .
hmmm, will go into my issues with all things organisational later, though firstly want to apologise, for being a self righteous spiritual pratt who did things by the book and sat with other elders/mss and prejudged others for not doing enough and having a wrong attitude about all matters spiritual and organisational.
i stepped down as an ms over a year ago (they were grooming me to be an elder), havent been to a meeting in 3 months, i knew it wasnt the truth for a number of years and have struggled badly the last few years.
welcome good to have another newbie ~ I just wish more of those who 'took the lead' would have had your humble attitude

Bought your book 2 weeks ago and couldn't put it down til I finished. . GREAT book, truly funny! Most of it had me in stitches and the rest had me shakin' my head trying to wonder how I ever survived growing up a witness. Thank you for having the courage to publish your experiences, it's good to finally be able to look back and laugh - and least. I would write some of my favorite one liners from the book, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.

it tried to be dramatic and different but you just don't know which direction this movie is taking.
i haven't walked out of a film ever, but i just couldn't stand it anymore....the first hour and a half went no-where!
they try to make complex interesting characters but fail completely...anyone else see it?.
I also walked out and demanded my money back... should have been rated NC-17 (saw lots of families there - what were they thinking), and the critics were wrong!!! It sucked horribly!!!!!!!
The 4,5, & 6 year olds at the movie horrified me far more than this craptacular movie. Watchmen sucked @SS!!

it's so refreshing to read ppl's thoughts on these topics, which run deeply personal, and i've never been able to express myself freely, so thanks for such a great forum.. i was born and raised a dub, by my "spiritually single" mother (dad was an unbeliever..still is) me and my 3 other siblings all fell away before getting baptised, other than my older sis, who was df'd at 16. unfortunatley in my early 20's a sister "took an interest in me and we had a bible study for 2 years before getting baptized at 24.
(what a regret) since then i floundered, flopped, got df'd a year later for dum, dum, dum..."fornication and then reinstated 9 months later.

I also share that experience of having a mother that is completely and totally absorbed with the society and has devoted her whole life and soul to the org. I have come to the conclusion that if she really would find out the truth about the truth, she couldn't handle it. I almost think it would kill her really, and that is no exaggeration, considering how emotionally tied she is to the org and how her whole identity revolves around it. I feel that sadness too, but at a lost as to what to do about it.
But, I'm glad to see so many new ones. This board provides a myriad of supportive suggestions and experiences from many in similar situations. Look forward to seeing more of your posts!
