I just posted over there! I had to admonish them for not going to official WTS website and the fact they ask for donations for that site when their money should be put in contribution box's at the KH!

So I visited birthday party of my dad and brother ... after 18 years!!!
by Albert Einstein inthis week my dad and my brother celebrated in my brothers house their birthday (they were born almost on the same date...).
none of my family is a jw.. i shortly called my brother on that morning and asked if i can come over.
he said ok, so i came to his house, told them iam learning to celebrate birthdays again and gave them a bottle of good wine for my brother and a big bottle of good honey for my dad (he is sick).

How kind of your family to welcome you back to celebrate without holding it against you for not being there the last 18 years. Very kind of your dad to ask about what is going on in the JW religion without ridicule and sounds like he is very respectful to your now former belief. Also to show concern about your jw wife and how this may affect your marriage. It seems to me you have a very loving family! Too bad the JW's can't show this same kindness just because someone may believe differently from them!

I just saw Kris thursday night at a bar here in Wilmington NC, I understand he is here doing a movie. Not usually good at spotting celebs, but there is no mistaking who he is when you see him.

Did You "Care" About Disfellowshipped People?
by minimus inas a witness, i was trained not to feel bad for "those that left us".
if they didn't want to stay, that was their decision.
if they decided to stop the "sweet fellowship" of the brotherhood, we needed to avoid them so that they could miss us, see the error of their way and "come back to jehovah".. when you were a jehovah's witness, did you avoid disfellowshipped ones and mentally stop caring about them?.

For me it never felt right that you could not even say hello especially if its your own family! Elders always told me it even more important that the family shun so that their loved one would want to come back. I asked an elder once that told me this, "but shouldn't they want to come back to serve jehovah and not because they miss family?" Well I got the "We need to follow what the slave tells us in matters like this."
