Personal Decision,

hi people,,,what i mean about personal decision is that, if someone wants to believe what they really want, what will the problem be, so why do some people have to question their beliefs and their type of life.

wouldn't it be better if we try to respect everyones life, no meter how they do it.

I'm not sure where this is going either.

If this is truly your belief, then you are indeed a unique JW. The GB has relentlessly put up an effort to build walls around JWs in order to separate them from the rest of 'the world.' And by doing so, they have created labels for those people, including "wordly", "apostate", "unbeliever", "opposer", "satan's follower", etc. Don't you think this does much harm in personal and family relationships?

If the GB eliminated this, along with a few other harmful doctrines, then I would have no problems with them. We could all just "get along" fine.

i opened another thread with a similar title and thought it was going to be a discussion about belief in god but it wasn't.

so i started my own.. although i'm not sure of much at the moment (since i had my beliefs whipped out from under me like the floor under my feet) i feel fairly certain about one thing.

there is evidence of intelligent design and beauty in the universe and i don't logically think this is accidental.

A very funny link, indeed! I needed a laugh! I found about as much "science" there as the average Awake! magazine only not as well written. Here is a good link that about sums it up: Straw Man Fallacy.

And this is a perfect example of the "straw man fallacy." I did say that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I also said that the site was a wealth of information, not scientific data.

And no, the awake unfortunately does not use logic that comes remotely close to that used by the emails and arguments presented on the site.

All intesting perspectives...

I too, believe that there *must* be a higher being, a god, if you will. Now, I know there are many of you out there who's faith has been completely shattered and are either agnostics or full blown atheists. And you are fully entitled to your opinion.

But as the comments above, as I too observe the world I have come to the conclusion that we just could not have arrived here by accident. There is too much evidence of intelligent design.

Not only that, but there is way too much evidence against evolution. I have studied the subject very much indepth (no, not by reading the "creation" book), and analysed both sides.

There is a wealth of information here.

What I am convinced, however, is that organized religion does not have the answers, and there is no one out there that does. I can only maintain faith that God (or much higher being(s)) exists and that someday, somehow we may find out what the grand purpose is.

simply put...i believe there is a god..and his name is yhwh aka jehovah..and his son yeshua or yehoshua aka jesus..died for our sins as a propitiatory ransom sacrifice to antone for mankinds sins..i therefore am also a creationist...i do not believe science contradicts the bible...rather i think it agrees and compliments it rather well.. .

i am creating this post in response to comments made in my last post by the poster named "parakeet"... i just thought i should explain myself before he/she starts deducting praise from me (see my last post)..lol...alright here goes.

i grew in a small town in florida called macclenny..population- 20,000.. my mother and her family were raised in this quaint little city...my family on my mothers side has been in this city since the early 1920's...ok...lemme me get to the meat of the story.. .

Perhaps the visions, sounds, etc. were attributed to a gas leak in the house. Not necessarily natural gas, but other gases (sometimes toxic) that form "naturally" from the ground could seep out to the open. These gases or vapours could very easily cause all sorts of havoc, such as hallucinations and other short-term mental problems.

The shredding of the clothes could just have been a story which after been told so many times became an actual fact (remember those urban legends about smurfs, possessed objects, etc?)

I am only concerned with staying true to the scriptures...and if the people who supposedly watch this board consider my presence here a "violation" of some sort...i say show me in scripture where talking about the bible is condemned...and if they feel my presence here is a "DF offense" then so be it...

There is no way to win this argument in a JC. They are not there to be preached, but to "re-adjust" your thinking. If they can't get you for apostasy, they will get you for disunity (p.99 "All the flock" - worth a read).

It's a dangerous thing to be revealing your real name and phone number. I have little doubt that the WTS uses "spies" to scope the board, looking for info to incriminate those who have not yet been DF'ed. How do you think they learn of web sites that they can go after and attempt to shut down?

The biggest problem here is that you have expressed some of your doubts. If brought b4 a JC you will be questioned about these doubts. If your thinking cannot be "re-adjusted" (and believe me, and this point it is absolutely impossible to go back) you will be "punished."

If you have too much on the line I recommend you edit your post.

What is the most hours you ever turned in on your F.S. report?

i once turned in 39 hours helping another to reach their pioneer goal.

fairly accurate reporting of the hours as well.

That's actually quite funny. I did aux a few times and we'd actually go to malls for several hours at a time with magazines hidden in our coats! LOL! It was spanish territory so we only spoke to those who 'looked' spanish. We had to hide the litter-a-ture because there were always security guards roaming the buildings. For the groups that did this it was mostly a contest to see who could place the most mags. I remember forcing people to take it (with quick sales pitches - put it in their hands b4 they even spoke and walk away) even when they had no interest just to get my numbers up! What a waste of time. Ah, but the memories...

could they have learned something from lurking on jwd and decided to dismantle little by little?

i mean, no bookstudy, possibly less hours for regular pioneers and now the possibility of doing away with the co...sure sounds like a fade to me... are they hoping the r&f won't notice???.

They could be pulling a "Nortel": they have finally realized that they are not worth as much as everyone thought, so they must begin the downsizing process. Unfortunately for Nortel, that also commenced a death spiral from which they have yet to recover.

Downsizing is a dangerous activity. It could not only send the wrong signal, but could drastically impede growth.

But, realistically, they are tightning up operations to not only increase profits, but to keep a firm control by constantly upholding the notion that these changes indicate we are "near the end".
