Perusing the free Watchtower i got yesterday
by AuntBee ini said i had no cash on me, i wasn't lying.. in the article (3-1-11) entitled what is god's kingdom, there is a paragraph about christendom's confusing explanation of what the kingdom of god is.
the last 'confusing' explanation listed says, "the kingdom of god is righteousness and peace and joy from the holy spirit" as quoted from the catholic catechism.
it sounded familiar, and i found it in romans 14:17, "for the kingdom of god is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace and joy in the holy ghost.

The very next sentence says, "You will find a much clearer explanation on page 2 of this journal."

Hi guys! I pull up to my daugher's home in Phoenix this morning, just got there from Tucson for a visit. And lo and behold, 2 JW are walking up the driveway. Well, i spent over an hour with them on the doorstep. I wrote out a longer version, so that i would remember the details, but i'll just post a bit here. The thing that stood out most to me was the repetitive use of a completely false analogy. One of the ladies repeated this no less than 3 times. I was pointing out false predictions, and other changes in the organization, even changes relating to things that lost people their lives. Her analogy was - think back to when you were five years old. Did you believe things then, you don't believe any more now? Did you do things you don't do any more, like play in the dirt? I responded each time she said this - i'm not talking about a child. I'm talking about an organization that makes the incredible claim of being GOd's one channel of truth on earth, God's only organization, His spokesman on how to interpret the Bible, etc. I made no such claim as a child. I did not go around proclaiming lies world-wide in Jehovahs name! Do you see the difference? (Perhaps she had to keep using this one, as i specifically requested they not start in with the light getting brighter. )
My daughter said JWs hit her neighborhood quite often, at least once a month! Wow, i may have to go out with some flyers to that neighborhood, how about the Awake with the kid martyrs who bled to death?
Thanks for all the knowledge and experiences you guys share here. It really does help and inform a lot of people!
cheers, auntbee, tucson

using the name "jehovah"
by finallyfree! ini find it to be frankly disrespectful.
im a father, if my kids were to call me by my first name id find that wierd.
we address judges with "your honor" and various other titles, so why on earth would we call the almighty god by his first name?

I happened upon this by Justin Martyr, commenting on YHWH, that it is NOT a personal name. Interesting.
When hit with the "Divine name" by some JWs, i used an example of someone in danger crying out to God, just calling him "God", but was He really up there going -- "Forget you! You didn't say "Jehovah"!!!

How To Attain Anointed Status?
by Cold Steel inif i were a jehovah's witness, i would definitely want to be part of the anointed class.. if i were baptized into the religion and had answered all the questions correctly, how long would it take before i could claim anointed status?
apparently if i claim status, i'm questioned by circuit representatives who either agree or disagree.
i'm confused as to how someone would know they were of the heavenly class.

Thank you JuanMiguel, for taking the time to write this post (article!). I learned a lot from it, and plan to re-read it later. Do you have a blog, or other writings anywhere online, articles, etc? I'd be very interested in them if you do.
(Unlrelated comment: I always enjoy Wobble's posts too. He's so insightful, yet always kind.)

The doctors could not find a reason, but said that most likely it was brought on my stress.
My husband's been through a lot of health problems, and "brought on by stress" is doctor-speak for "WE HAVE NO FREAKIN IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS" Over the years, i have heard SO many people go to a doctor for various symtpoms, and if they can't find anything in their med school flow chart, they brililantly pronounce it to be ..... .STRESS!
