Does anyone know when the WT officially started referring to Jesus choosing them in 1919? The first reference to it in the publications?
Thanks.

jws often point to this, to show outsiders they are allowed to read the bible on their own without the publications.
although, as we know, the org still teaches that you will never progress along the road to life without the pubs.
and, i would imagine that what they learn/conclude from their own bible reading, must remain within the confines of current wt teaching, even on the most minute points of doctrine.
Thank you Slow Burn.

Has this daily Bible reading always been promoted? How many Witnesses do it? What is the point , if you just have to accept all their teachings anyway?
does anyone know what it means to be "securely wrapped up in the bag of life"?
is this a new special wt terminology?
they said it or a slight variant of it, several times in the broadcast, perhaps 3?
OrphanCrow - "a little worried about something". They also had a theme of staying in the "spiritual protection" of Jehovah('s organization), which was repeated several times in different segments.

I know that JWs assert that everything they put out is "Bible based" but i don't remember seeing that phrase in Scripture.
Does this sound appealing to be wrapped up in a bag, even if it is the bag of life? Are they just getting even weirder lately?
Thanks ahead of time for any insight anyone may be able to provide.
the purpose of this thread is to share some history with the community.
i am an active jw.
the reason i picked this forum is due to the openness and ease with which information can be accessed.
Martin Luther was a staunch Trinitarian, so i have no idea how he could be classified by any JW or the WT as a "witness of Jehovah." Although CTR did say he was one of the Messengers of the church. -- Your post is probably far too long to get many responses on this type of forum. Cheers!
this book has been recommended to me a few times.
is it worth reading?.
how could i get a copy without paying the massive amount stated on amazon and ebay?
Anyone with a library card can get it through "inter Library Loan". This is an amazing service, which will get any in print book for you, if they can, even from out of state, etc. Our library's web site even enables you to put in a request online!
at times i want to kick myself for mindlessly letting the "god of religion" teach me about the "god of abraham" for more than 40 years.
what was i thinking?.
then again i was a third generation born-in who simply and naively believed the "reality" i was presented with, whilst unknowingly being held captive by spiritually blind, confused, inebriated and insane watchtower religionists in a mental prison with invisible bars..
Fernando, When JWs tell me that the NT Epistles are written to and for the 'anointed' class, i think of this verse in Galatians:
"Those false teachers are so eager to win your favor, but their intentions are not good. They are trying to shut you off from me so that you will pay attention only to them." Gal.4:17, NLT
The org has convinced the Witnesses that the WT publications have more direct relevance for them than the New Testament itself.
I love your list of contrasts! Cheers!

Yes, i did get to talk to the guy with the sign. He was polite, but didn't want to chat much. He has a philosophy of just wanting to present the sign, and thinks i'ts more effective if he's mostly silent.
They seemed a little befuddled when i didn't 'obey' them and laughed at them. But they kept trying by invading my space and acting all intimidating. weirdos. -- Another time two elders came to my house , because i asked some questions of ladies at a literature table, and made an appointment with them. Instead of the ladies, these elders showed up to kiss me off, and said the ladies won't be talking with me any more, basically. -- They had the same aura, like they thought they were someone. It's really astounding to someone on the outside, they seem like someone with narcissist personality disorder.
