Good points. I don't think there's any doubt that this will be the official teaching. I know one or two JWs who already espouse this as gospel.

Who really is the slave? The Governing Body!!!
by Ultimate Reality inwith the june 15th article (on jw.org) about the slave and governing body, we can see the planned progression of breaking the slave from the domestics.
therefore, lumping the claimed-anointed and the great crowd in the same group for all intents and purposes.
7:9;john 10:16) should not individual members of the anointed and the "other sheep" trust the slave appointed over them?

@ Stephen - yes I have. However, I'm sure more blessing from the Spirit will follow baptism.
@ Lou - freedom is a wonderful thing and I'm glad both you and your mother have been able to experience and enjoy the wonderful blessings that freedom brings.

@ JWDaughter - the church we attend didn't make an issue over our baptism. It's not the church's place to interpret your baptism as being valid or not. One of the members of the church underwent infant baptism and she felt that this baptism was still valid for her. No one in the church pressured her otherwise; it was her choice. As it turned out, after years of saying that there was no way she'd be re-baptised, suddenly she had a great desire to be dunked and requested baptism.
Bear in mind, she was a member of the church and no one was making an issue over her baptism as a baby; it was entirely up to her.
That's the way it should be, IMO.

@ cameo-d
"seems" and "suppose" indicate that the issue is open to conjecture and as a result nothing definitive can be stated about Jesus' relationship with John. John certainly recognised that Jesus was the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world and Jesus certainly recognised that John was doing a work approved by God.
What happened before in their relationship Jesus baptism isn't recorded and hence I'm not going to speculate. What happened afterwards is that John's followers enquired as to who Jesus was and Jesus told them to report back what they'd seen him doing. Just because it isn't recorded that he hung out with John regularly afterwards doesn't mean that they never saw each other again. When Jesus heard of John's death he paid great tribute to him.

Ok, so the CO is stating that what the Governing Body does comes directly from Jehovah.
Let's take that to its natural conclusion.
- Flip-flop on the 'generation' comes directly from Jehovah
- Flip-flop on organ transplants comes directly from Jehovah
- Flip-flop on blood fractions comes directly from Jehovah
- Article after article, talk after talk about how important the Book Study Group arrangement was came directly from Jehovah
- The sudden lack of importance of the Book Study Group arrangement came directly from Jehovah
I was told that when the Governing Body speaks, it's really Jehovah speaking. Therefore, Jehovah changes his mind a lot, gets things wrong, misleads and is happy for people to die rather than take life-saving surgery.
In reality, Jehovah has nothing to do with the Governing Body, but statements like this from the CO only go to further cement in a JW's mind that Jehovah is the Organisation as represented by the Governing Body.

Is it really just innocent words?
by lonestar63 infrom what i've read on here, i understand many of you have a certain amount of anger over the way the society controlled every aspect of your lives.
thats understandable.
i still have a bit, even though my fade is complete.. that being said, i think everyone on here has a goal to help those that are still trapped inside the mind controlling cult.

I agree that some of the terms used to describe Witnesses and their religion are going to be hugely offensive to them, regardless of the terms the WTS uses to describe Christians. JWs are incredibly myopic and easily offended.
My view is that it's best to be as respectful to a JW as possible otherwise their apostate radar kicks in and their ears and eyes close down.

Baptism doesn't need to be done by a church. It happens that it's being done in a church. Baptism is done to outwardly display that one has repented from their former life and is moving on in a new life in Christ. Baptism part of the parting words of Christ and consistently throughout the Acts of the Apostles whenever a person came to faith in Christ they were almost always immediately baptised. For some this resulted in an immediate outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus presented himself - as a perfect man - for baptism. This set the model. He presented himself before His Heavenly Father in an act of obedient submission and was blessed with the Holy Spirit.
Christian baptism is full immersion. The JWs get this part right.
The location of baptism is completely irrelevant. I know some Christian who were baptised in rivers. Others in municipal swimming pools. Some churches have baptistries.
I should point out, we're not getting baptised into another religion. I feel strongly about this; we're being baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This isn't a religious thing, it's a matter of faith. As part of our faith we get to be baptised.

@ hobo ken - I hear what you're saying. I know that my baptism wasn't in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and was only done as an outward display of what others expected of me. It's different this time around.
