Personally, I'm in agreement with much of what is being said
in this thread.
With that being said, you must be true to yourself.
If your EDUCATED conscience tells you that the things that
you have learned regarding the "Society" are true and
in fact you have been subjected to control and manipulation
you owe it to yourself to not be taken in by emotion and catch phrases.
Those you speak of are probably very sincere.
Everything taught by JW's is not necessarily a lie. That does not grant
them the right to use know techniques for control.
You do not need an organization in order to be a Christian,
if in fact that is what you wish.
Dazzle them with BRILLIANCE or BAFFLE them with BU**SH**. Playing
with emotions, no matter the cause, is wrong in my book!!
Use that brain of yours for some rational thinking.

Are you now involved in a different religion or structured group?
by feenx ini was browsing another post where wtwizard implied membership in another group, and was asked what it was.
that got me thinking...since coming out the society, has anyone embraced another organized religion or group, public or secret?
if so, what is it, and what made you join and continue membership?

I have experienced only two states of existence.
In the first state I was a born-in JW immersed so
deep in that I did not even recognize any other way.
I learned everything I could, followed all the rules and regs,
and expected all others around me to do the same.
What can I say. That's what I was taught and I learned it well.
I was in that world for 25 years.
The first state began to end with the shock and reality that
when I entered the Kingdom Hall panic attacks struck. I was 14
years old. I would go into mental shutdown and again the panic attacks
when I attempted Field Service. I had Temp Pioneered and was a regular
publisher always!! I was 16 years old. I quickly found out that I
knew NOTHING about living a meaningful and productive life.
I married young (to someone years younger than I) and that lasted 18 months.
I was treated without compassion or kindness by "The Elders".
As a matter of fact it was downright evil the way I was treated.
I was publically reprimanded (humiliated). I began the fade.
So began the second state. This state required that I relearn everything.
I had to dismiss all my previous spiritual upbringing and begin again.
I made a lot of mistakes and I did a lot of this correctly as well.
I studied philosophy and gravitated to "Objectivity" . Anything that taught
objective and rational thinking was good for me. It made me the perfect
Capitalist and businessman. I succeeded beyond what I imagined possible.
This state had lasted 25 years.
I have stood before the door of the third state for the past couple of years.
I have recently concluded that if I am to go through that door, it requires
that I re-invigorate my spiritual nature. I've done a lot of reading, joined this forum, and am about ready to make my move.
More to come.
Sorry for the long reply.
It just struck me that I should. -

Did anyone get told that they 'think about things too much'?
by jambon1 inin the very early days of my explaining to certain witnesses my doubts, i kind of ran through all of them.
they probobly merged into one big hodge-podge of apostate doubting nonsense.
- the nephilim penis size, the animals in the ark, the she bears killing the kids, davids baby being killed by god for his adultery, jesus sacrifice not really being a sacrifice, the torture of jw's in the camps, appointment of elders, the changing doctrines.........but more than a few elders/rank & file witnesses told me that i "think about stuff too much".

I was told that as a youngster ALL the time.
I never was a very good drone.
I haven't been told that for a very long time.
Uh..Thanks for the reminder. -

Dinner guest- When you bring wine shouldn't they offer you some?
by Witness 007 ini've gone to many a witness dinner where i would bring one or two nice wines, hoping we would have some with dinner.
{to numb the boring conversations} only, to find the couple say "thanks" put it in the cabnet....and serve up lemonade..... and it's not an alcohol thing....two different brothers brought out there own "home made" vino instead, which taste like a mixture of fruit punch and vineger!
.

Yep, that's just plain rude.
I'm a very outspoken person (at times) and I
would have told them to bring out the wine I brought.
They are probably the kind that would bring out the stems, seeds, and leaves
and keep the bud for themselves.

Ex-JWs off the Radar?
by sweet pea inthis week i was contacted by an old friend of mine who was recently disfellowshipped.
i encouraged her to check out jwd for support, advice and friendship.
she had a brief look but said it wasn't really for her, she would rather just "move on and have fun!".

I was out for 25 and never gave much thought to anything JW.
As a matter of fact, I would go out of my way to avoid any
contact whatsoever.
I've been an active internet user since the old "Mosaic" days.
That's when access was expensive and very geeky. Al Gore hadn't
"invented" it yet. LOL
Never did any research with regards to Witnesses or any type of religion.
Didn't even care about any of the why's.
That changed when I finally convinced my father (a long time JW) that the
internet was safe and he didn't have to look at porn.
He asked me one day if I had ever Googled Jehovahs Witnesses.
My answer was "No I haven't" and I couldn't think of a reason why.
So I did. That was only a few weeks ago. I read Ray Franz's two books
and have ordered some additional information. My eyes were finally opened
after all these years.
It's all due to my dad. I'm sure if he knew it was he that opened
the floodgate of real truth (apostate) to me he would freak!!! -

What horrible looking stuff!!
It looks like some sort of goth, devils court kind of crap.
Did you notice the prices??
On the opening page the regular jewlrey was $15 - $25 dollar
stuff and not so hideous.
The WT stuff was in the $100 + range.
Yeah!! Lets rip off the brothers and sisters.
It's for a good cause they'll pay anything.
Yikes!! Besides, the society will probably want a cut, say 45%?? -

Great comment "Journey on".
As a born-in I have now been out as long as I was in.
It is who I am and helped to make me what I am today.
Embarrassed about it, yep. When I was a kid it was constant.
I was the only JW in grade school, the only one that I
knew of in Junior high, and only one of maybe 3 in high
school. It was tough.
When I finally faded after 26 years and a failed marriage,
I refused to even acknowledge that it even ever happened.
I've just recently faced it square in the face and have
been purging it out ever since. It get better once you
begin to reconcile it with yourself.
This board has helped a great deal in that process. -

comes crashing back, usually when least
expected.
When I began reading "Crisis of Conscience" out
of nowhere my brain began chanting "You
shouldn't read this, you shouldn't read this!!
Apostate, Apostate!!
Just kept moving forward and it soon turned
to a murmur the completely left.

As a professional you probably have a license involved.
According to many finance related license you have a duty to
report any illegal activities you run across.
Do not compromise your profession because some loan shark
happens to be a JW.
Illegal is illegal. -
